I would not stay here again. My extended family and I stayed in the Angsana Hangzhou for two nights for a family vacation. This hotel was a disappointment. Despite a lovely setting and an impressive-looking exterior and lobby, the rooms have major problems and the service in the restaurant was bad.||||The Good:||-- Nice setting, near the Xixi National Wetlands Park (which is definitely worth visiting). The rear of the lobby overlooks a small stream/canal with lots of willow trees and birds nearby.||-- Our room (202) had a balcony overlooking the stream at the rear of the hotel. I believe all of the rooms have balconies, but not all of them have a good view.||-- In-room safe.||-- The nightstand had a flashlight in it. A good thing, because of the problems noted below.||-- Mini-fridge has overpriced mini-bar items in it, but still had space for personal items.||-- Water pressure in the shower was good. Bathroom has a shower and a tub.||-- Across the small stream behind the hotel is a new mall, so you have easy access to the shops and restaurants. However, many of them aren't open yet.||||The Not-So-Good:||-- Not only does the bathroom have a glass wall/door between the bathroom and the bedroom, but THE MAIN DOOR TO THE BATHROOM IS ALL GLASS. There are curtains that you can close to cover the glass wall between the bathroom and the bedroom, but there was no way to cover the main bathroom door. This is a deal-breaker. I need more privacy in a bathroom than that!||-- The shower/tub area appeared to have mold on the ceiling.||-- Our room had two double beds. The beds are on a platform several inches high. You could easily trip on the platform or simply step off it wrong and twist your ankle if you forget about it in the middle of the night (or even during the day). It's a ridiculous and unnecessary hazard. You have to remember to get out of bed on the far side of the other bed in order to avoid the platform.||-- The air conditioning didn't work properly in the rooms -- not just our room, but all the rooms in our group. It appears that they turn off the air conditioning completely during the day -- perhaps because it was late October. However, it was still warm and humid enough outside that our rooms were uncomfortable without AC. This is another deal-breaker.||-- Wi-fi is unreliable and slow.||-- The light switches in the room are ridiculously confusing. There are several switches just as you enter the room. More than once, one of us accidentally hit the master switch, turning on or off all of the lights in the room. One switch on the far side of one bed controlled a light on the far side of the other bed -- and the bed nearest to that light didn't have a switch for that light!||-- The closet is short and tiny, inconveniently located behind the glass door to the bathroom. The in-room safe is located in the same space.||-- No built-in laundry line. ||-- As usual, not enough hooks/towel bars in the bathroom.||-- Sometimes the toilet would run continuously or have a slow leak that resulted in "phantom" flushes.||-- No nightlight to help you find your way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The bathroom light switch, which was located outside of the bathroom among the bank of confusing switches near the front door, should have a small indicator light.||-- The way they numbered the rooms was confusing and didn't make any sense.||-- We ate one dinner in the hotel restaurant. It took AN HOUR for our food to come -- and we were the only people eating there at the time! The wait staff looked very young and seemed to be very inexperienced. They kept coming to our table and asking questions about our order, which wasn't complicated (a prix fixe meal for two).||-- You can walk from the hotel across the stream to the mall, but there is construction going on and there's no light on the little arched bridge you have to cross, so you have to be careful walking there at night. Not sure if the light would be the responsibility of the hotel or the mall.||-- The outdoor rooftop pool was closed for the season, which was disappointing -- not because I wanted to swim, but because we couldn't see the view from the terrace where the pool was located.||-- The entire Westbrook Resort area is far from the center of Hangzhou.||||As I said, I would stay...

Let me start with a quick summary, and then dig further.||In short, if you want to size up this hotel, imagine a 5-star that was opened 10 years ago, and has had only the strict minimum upkeep since then. And the Banyan Tree nearby uses this as a “cheap overflow annex”. That’s a good picture of Angsana Hangzhou.||Pros:| - Very nice lobby and entrance (of course; you need at least a good first impression)|- Parking is free (and it should be, if you look at it)||Cons: just about everything else:|- Tired property, needs better maintenance all around: bad painting here and there, stains on walls, carpets not in great shape, tired and noisy elevators, etc.|- Room design originally attractive, but air conditioning does not work well (central override?), bathroom is slippery with no mat, amenities come in unbranded plastic pump containers (good for environment, but what am I using?)|- Breakfast is ok, but ran out of options an hour before close|- No acknowledgement of being an Accor Platinum member. Did I get an upgrade? No idea. Did I get any perks? No idea. No one even mentioned the membership. (Even though i booked direct from the Accor app)|- Most staff, although they’re trying their best, are clearly very inexperienced.||We come to Hangzhou often, and we usually try different hotels depending on our mood. This one was a big disappointment. Within the same price range (and even lower), there are literally at least a dozen better options in town. ||This hotel absolutely does not belong in the top 10 hotels in Hangzhou, not even top 20. I guess most positive reviews are quite a bit older, if you look at the dates they were posted. That might have reflected the reality then, but it certainly does not reflect the reality as of 2019....

Hotel was fine. Nothing spectacular. At multiple times throughout my 2-day stay, I’d say 4/5 of the lobby staff wasn’t wearing a mask, or had it on below the chin. Unlike other hotels, nobody took peoples’ temperature upon arrival, something that seems like it should be the norm. At night a dinner party came in and out of the lobby, some of them smoking openly.||||Room was nice, albeit located in a shopping area without the feel of being in a Wetland. Rooftop pool was closed due to light rain, understandably so. Breakfast was fine.||||Overall, the location is nice if you want a change from West Lake and can get to enjoy the wetlands.||||I have 50+ nights in different hotels this year, and overall, I was underwhelmed by the Angsana here and also in Xian. You’re paying for the name brand I think. You can get better service, food, accommodations in some of the lower levels of...
