Shangri-La Hotel Hangzhou — Hotel in Hangzhou City

This hotel was shangri la branded by combining 2 local hotels in 1984. There is currently the 1st ever renovation happening in the other wing. I am staying in the unrenovated one||I don’t know about theresa may or angela merkel who stayed here, but i don’t fancy staying in a 1984 hotel not yet renovated||Apart from the small tv, everything else is 38 years old. When i walk around the small room, the tv cabinet shakes. And i do dislike having to shower in a bathtub, it’s a safety hazard||Plus as a Diamond golden circle member, i didn’t get a suite upgrade. They said they are full 🙄 I was planned to stay here for 7 days but my assistant and i moved to another hotel after 1 day. So i helped them release another 2 rooms since they are so full and popular||The staff at the coffee garden are very good though. (But not the food quality) And Karl the GM came to say hello as well, which is a nice touch ||Stay at the new shangri la midtown or return after the renovation ||5/10, unusual for...

Hangzhou wird (zusammen mit Suzhou) auch das 'Paradies von China' genannt. Hangzhou verdankt dies dem wunderbaren 'Westlake' und den nahen Bergen. Somit ist auch die Luft wesentlich besser als in anderen chinesischen Grossstädten. Ja selbst ein echt blauer Himmel ist hier manchmal zu sehen - eher eine Seltenheit in China.||Hangzhou fasziniert zudem mit seiner uralten Geschichte - gemäss Wiki soll sie sich 4700 Jahre zurückverfolgen lassen. ||||Doch nun zum Hotel. Das Shangri-La Hotel liegt ganz in der Nähe des Sees (nur getrennt durch eine Allee und Uferpromenade. Die Lage der Hotels ist also sehr schön und lädt unmittelbar zu Wanderungen in den Parks und den Wegen entlang des Sees ein. DasGebäude ist in nicht sehr hoch (6 Stockwerke) und erinnert an einen kolonialen Baustil.||||Zimmer: ich kann hier nur das Standardzimmer beschreiben. Es ist ist sehr geräumig und blitzeblank. Allerdings erweckt das Interieur den Eindruck, dass eine Erneuerung dringend angesagt wäre . 5 Sterne hat das Zimmer auf keinen Fall verdient. Negativ ist die Beleuchtung, welche trotz Anschalten aller Lichter halb dämmerig bleibt.||||Bad/Dusche: das Badezimmer an sich ist sehr gross. Leider hat es nur eine Badewanne, aber keine Dusche - obwohl genug Platz vorhanden wäre. Die Ablage rund um das Waschbecken ist sehr klein - ebenfalls keine 5 Sterne wert.||||Essen: wirklich enttäuscht hat mich das Dinnerbuffet. 3 Beispiele: es gab keine Softdrinks zum Buffet, es gab weder irgendwelche Nudeln noch gebratenenen Reis und zu guter Letzt suchte man am Sushi Buffet ausser Lachs vergebens nach irgend einem anderen Fisch. Dies alles mag ja an einem Standardbuffet noch akzeptabel sein, aber einem 5 Sterne Standard entspricht des sicher nicht - vermutlich hat das Buffet nicht mal vier Sterne verdient.||||Service: das Personal ist sehr gut geschult und äusserst zuvorkommend. Verbesserungswürdig ist der Service mit Taxis. Hier muss man mitunter sehr lange warten, bis irgend ein Taxi vorbeikommt. Das mag zwar mit der Lage des Hotels zu tun haben, ist aber sehr kritisch , wenn man in Zeitnot gerät.||||Preis: die Preise sind bei Shangri-La ja nicht besonders günstig. Interessant ist, dass mit ein paar wenigen Emails der Preis um 1/3 heruntergehandelt werden konnte.
