I spent four nights at this resort hotel while attending a conference. As others have noted, the Hotel is quite some distance from the downtown area, but what you lose in convenient access to downtown shopping and the tourist areas, you gain in the quite special wetland park areas surrounding the hotel. The hotel is in the middle of wonderful lakes, waterways and the lush green of the park and it feels like you have entered a quite different world than the grey hustle of Hangzhou.||||My room was fabulous. It was very large. There was a sectional sofa in a sitting area beside the king-sized bed. The washroom was wonderful, with a huge tub and shower area, and all the usual amenities. There was a dressing area with lots of closet space. The television had a range of international channels (including about 6 broadcasting in English), and there was a kettle for tea or coffee. It was very nicely decorated and very comfortable.||||The hotel is very new and well-designed. There is a bar area facing the small pond at the back of the hotel. There is a very nice restaurant. The breakfast buffet, which is just off the main lobby area, was wonderful with a range of sushi, dim sum, western, and Chinese breakfast items. Several of us intentionally moved up our morning alarm times so that we could spend some extra time at the breakfast - it was that good.||||While the hotel is some distance from the core of the city, it was quite easy to take a taxi in (and they are quite inexpensive). The big advantage of staying here is that you feel like you are a thousand miles from the city. Everything is lush and quiet. ||||By the way, there is a very nice fountain in front of the hotel, and in the evenings they turn on a light-show that paints the fountain in coloured lights. IIt is worth wandering out to take a look at in the evening - quite beautiful.||||While there is a pool, it was closed all of the time that we were there. ||||Overall, a very positive experience. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, and the hotel was quite special. I would certainly...
Read moreWe stayed in the hotel for three nights in July. We had a Chinese style room on the second floor of building #9. The room was big and very clean and the bed was comfortable and suitable for westerners. The setting for the hotel is excellent within a few minutes walk from the gate to Xixi wetlands and the grounds are very nice. ||||The staff was very helpful; I had help from a Chinese speaking friend with some of the Chinese though; independently it was clear that the staff wanted to do their best to help out. We had some problems with the Internet connnection and the staff promptly fixed it. Once fixed the Internet connection was among the best I have had in China (and free). ||||The restaurant on the property serves very good Chinese food; I would especially recommend their special fish dish (not sure what it was called :-)), it was steamed, served with a traditional soysauce, herbs, spices, and the price was around 118 RMB, and the beef with asparagus. Both excellent dishes. The menu has pictures for some of the dishes and for once the real deal look better than the pictures and tasted great. ||||The breakfast for 20 RMB was good and well prepared; but if you don't like Chinese breakfasts and want western style I would suggest you bought some ||||This is a good hotel if you plan to visit Xixi wetlands for a day or so. If you don't have anyone who can help out with Chinese I suggest you download the nciku app; it is a great investment if you go to China, believe me :-) and it helps you if you want to go somewhat out of...
Read moreGo to this hotel if you are looking for a retreat away from the hustle and bustle. To even get in, you must convince the Xixi Wetland Park guards to let your taxi through the gate to get to the hotel. Once there, it is a serene campus of freestanding small low buildings surrounding a modest and delicious restaurant and pond. There are many tables outside to relax and enjoy nature. Our business party booked 12+ rooms, some were completely renovated and modern. Others were 2-star quality with not well maintained fixtures and even furry critters running in the walls (you can expect that out in the wilderness). ||||But generally pretty clean by Chinese standards. ||||Restaurant banquets for RMB1000 can feed not just 10 but probably 20 people: delicious local cuisine and great value. ||||30-40 minutes away from West Lake, this place is much more isolated and you would really come here to get away from things and enjoy seclusion...
