My stay at Feng Da International Hotel in Hefei was frustrating, uncomfortable, and frankly, unsafe. The air conditioning in our rooms wasn’t working — it blew air but did not cool at all. Everyone in my group had a terrible night’s sleep. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk, they gave us an absurd excuse: “since it is not hot outside, the AC has not transitioned to being cold.” Instead of fixing the issue, they offered us a fan, which is not an acceptable solution in a hotel that claims to offer international standards. The problems didn’t stop there. The bathroom ventilation did not work, leaving the room damp and musty. I was suprised that most reception staff spoke english relatively well (even in Beijing you get maybe one person who understands something if you lucky). The mini bar wasn't filled, but I am being picky here - it is very rare to see mini bar yet alone something in it in China. I believe that hotel was amazing value for money - £28 (£30 with breakfast), very luxury looking, just little short on few services. Would certainly stay again, good for business travel and for family holidays as well (1 child can stay for free). I would avoid breakfast (thought £2 for convenience is not bad) and I would ask for really non-smokers room in reception...
