Great International Hotel — Hotel in Heyuan

I was lucky enough to stay at a room quiet, not smelly, everything functioning okay and with river view. Some of my colleagues were assigned rooms either smelly (cigarette, even if the room was on non-smoking floor), noisy with a balcony or with air-con broken down… and what’s more frustrating was the staff did not manage to change to better rooms for them and the reason was “it’s quite full”, at a low season... For smelly rooms, you would be able to find a plate, or plates of sliced lemon underneath the TV cabinet. Interesting! Bed was comfortable, amenities okay, although the shower was a bit disappointing (cuz of the water coming out being a bit weak) especially when you had a long day. I found “weak shower” issue is actually quite common for hotels in China… In the evening, we did not want to explore outside any more so we decided to challenge a dinner at the Chinese restaurant inside the hotel, and surprisingly the food was great – Hakka cuisine. Breakfast in the morning was in another place. Good was only so so. Honestly speaking, not many chances for us to go back to Heyuan but if we do, this is a place...

I think it's five star because there is a swimming pool! As compared with the four star one I stayed last time in China, you may be a little bit disappointed. ||The buffet dinner is cheap at RMB98 for hotel guest but not bad while there are many choices both for breakfast and dinner buffet. The room is not spacious with a spacious bathroom with shower and bathtub. ||There are disposable toothbrush, slippers and bottle water for use. We found the room is clean & tidy. Water pressure and hot water for shower is stable. Location is good for visit the outbound tourist area or even the local area. Every evening 20:00 beside the river had fountain (up to 168M high) and lighting performance. |One incident is that the battery of safe in our room is low and we cannot open the safe. After inform the reception and the attendant immediate arrive try his best to open the safe Include replace the battery, with polite with professional manner.
