My wife and I stayed overnight at the hotel on arrival from Hangzhou, before returning (from an overnight stay at the summit) to stay for another two nights, all pre-booked. We were delighted with the upgrade, as an IHG member, to the 10th floor, and the welcome drink, which offered a range of choices. We shared the red and white wines and they were good. The ambience of the hotel, outside and inside, looked impressive, including the superior room, with a strong shower and a bathtub. The two single beds, though comfortable at first, sags later into the night, which affected our sleep. When we checked-out, we asked for a firm bed for our return stay. The following evening, we met the affable Duty Manager Fiona, who was apologetic over our last stay, and has upgraded us to a river-view room. It was nice of her to follow us to the bedroom to check the bed condition. We were all surprised that a wooden platform was instead placed beneath the bedsheet; the request for a firm bed was mistaken for a wooden bed! We opted then to reverse one of the beds, after removing the wooden platform, in the absence of any firm beds in the hotel. Unfortunately, the bed sags on the reverse side as well. Bed aside, we were pleased with the services rendered during our stay, although the command of English at the front desk to cater for English speaking guests need improvement, including the 'missing' smiles. We took buffet breakfast and a buffet dinner at the hotel for the three nights stay, and the range of offerings are satisfactory, although it would have been necessary to vary some dishes, especially those for breakfast. We ran out of variety! We, however, must commend on the services rendered by Winnie Huang. She was a delight; full of enthusiasm, energy and cheerful in welcoming guests and recommending dishes to savour, besides getting us the regular coffee and red tea. The other person we found pleasant and welcoming was Leo Huang, during our second night stay, who attended to us during the welcoming drink. It is the people that make the organization, and that made the difference for our stay with the hotel. We did not use the indoor swimming pool, although we noticed that it is compulsory to wear a cap before you can swim. The hotel is also within walking distance of the riverside walkway, where there are many night activities on both sides of the river, which the hotel could take advantage of to promote to first...
Read moreWe booked our room directly with Crowne Plaza Huangshan Yucheng. We stayed here on 1-3 December 2014 and 6-8 December 2014. The area surrounding the hotel was peaceful. In front of the hotel was a beautiful river. The lobby was magnificent. The ambience gave us a very warm welcome feeling. You could hear soothing piano music. There were many comfortable chairs for the tourists to relax. At the checking counter, the team of staff worked with smiling face and helpful attitude. It was they and the concierge staff and hotel Manager helped us to contact an excellent service driver and tour guide. We toured almost the attractive scenic spots of Huangshan - Hongcun, Xidi, Shexian, Tunxi Ancient Street, Bao Garden, Chengkan Village, the seven Archways and even Qian Dao Ho. The excellent tour guide helped us to achieve the goal of tour Huangshan Mountain for 3 nights and 4 days (3-6 December 2014). We had a Superior room, the first time on the 5th floor facing the river, the second time on the 6th floor facing the road. The room was huge and very clean. The king bed, the mattress and the pillows were not so hard and not so soft, just right to give us a sound sleep. There were three sections in the bathroom. The toilet with a door, the powerful shower with a door and the big clean bathtub and a spacious table top with basin. All the towels were white and clean. The heater was working well. But we would like to mention the carpet. When we encountered at first, we were surprised why the carpet was stained with patches of coffee or other liquids. We contacted the staff-in-charge, He came to see our room and explained that the carpet was specially made in such a design and material. He assured us that the carpet was very clean. We touched it and felt it was correct. The buffet breakfast was consisted of international and chinese locals. It had many choices. We went to have our dinner at the Yu Pin Xuan Restaurant. We ordered fried rice, dumplings, Guandong vegetable soup and crispy chicken. Delicious with acceptable cost CNY130. All in all every staff from the checking-in, concierge, Manager, Bellboys to the restaurant staff had excellent service, working with a helpful smiling face. Highly...
Read moreThe concierges were fantastic, extremely friendly and helpful. They gave me plenty of suggestions and helped me arrange my whole trip to Mt. Huangshan, which made my solo trip a lot easier and less stressful! All the staff at the hotel were very pleasant, even the cleaning lady and waitress would make kind conversation with me. Check in/out was quick. I would say many (if not most) of the staff do not speak English (or very basic), but there is always at least one person at each station (reception, concierge etc) who speaks good English to help. The friendliness of the staff made my stay very enjoyable.
This hotel is very luxurious, and the facilities are nice and new. My superior room was large, clean, comfortable and very quiet. It possibly had the most comfortable bed/bedding I've ever slept on! Great after a long, tiring day of hiking the mountain. However I found the room was very hot, hovering around maybe 28 degrees even with the AC. The gym was good, not too big but fairly spacious in a nice spot above the pool facing the river.
Food was okay. I ate at the Riverside restaurant twice. A la carte, a tiny pizza was expensive, but the evening buffet was a reasonable price with adequate selection, much of it was Chinese food. It was difficult to get a simple glass of water at the buffet. The lobby lounge was nice to relax in with a complimentary drink. I didn't like how there were smokers, although there were non-smoking tables.
Location is quite far from all the attractions, although close enough to the airport (20min). Mt. Huangshan was about 45min away by taxi, and if you want to take a bus I think you still need to take a taxi to the bus stop. Not the most convenient for tourists, as transportation can therefore become more complicated/expensive. But worth it if you want a comfortable/luxurious hotel to rest after...
