Le Meridien is a nice hotel, beautiful big rooms with a spacious balcony and an excellent view. The facilities are good, breakfast had a lot of options hot, cold, Chinese and Western but was extremely busy. The beach and the views were stunning and the hotel is conveniently next to a specialist built area with few restaurants, shops and some bars. The biggest drawback of this hotel is the layout. The hotel is very large (two wings) with multiple doors and gates which in theory should allow you your get around easily but everything was locked! We were close to the a lift and a door with a paved path to the street with the restaurants but the gate was padlocked all weekend. This made is especially frustrating when it torrentially rained and we could see the door into our elevator but had to walk all the way to reception in a thunderstorm. We watched people and families all weekend follow paths that led to gates which were padlocked only to have to walk all the way back and try and figure out a way around. It made no sense especially when the beach access is a locked gate opened with your room key, so why couldn’t the other gates work the same? Overall if you’re looking to stay on the premises, it’s a gorgeous hotel but we spent far too much time walking back and forth and there isn’t a lot to do in the...
Read moreWe live in Hong Kong and decided to explore one of the nearby beach resorts in the Guangdong province. We decided to check out Huizhou. We were here during the low season. Good experience but probably won’t be back. Nice Sandy beach but not great for swimming or at least when we were there. The water was cloudy and it was a good day.||As for the hotel, it’s a huge property. 9 years old but well kept. Service was good but not consistent. We booked a basic room and was upgraded to their top floor corner suite due to our elite Marriott status. Huge room and clean. The best part is the view. Quite stunning.||Nice outdoor and indoor pool. Gym has adequate machines. We rented some bicycles from the hotel but you can do better with one of the many outside bicycle rental shops. ||As for food. It’s mediocre. We only had breakfast and “happy hour” with drinks and snacks from 5:30-8:30 since they do not have a lounge. ||Good location being one of the first building along the stretch of high rise condos on the beach. The beach seems less crowded. It is walking distance to many restaurants. ||Overall, it’s a great place to come to unwind, have nice meals and lay out by pool or beach. Not much else to do other than that. I think Hainan island has more to offer if you don’t mind spending a bit more on flight and...
Read moreThe hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms and the view of the sea are gorgeous. The food at le Bistro was good too. ||However, if you are traveling between Nov and March, they turn off the ooling function on the air-conditioner. The entire hotel was hot. This year, Huizhou is still pretty hot with daytime temperatures at 27 to 30 degrees Celcius. And so, with no cooling, it gets super hot indoors. We were not able to sleep all night. |When we contacted management and asked for the cooling to be turned on in our room, they said it couldn't be done. We asked for a fan and relieved a really old box unit that looked more like a humidifier. This kept stopping every 10 seconds, too. ||We had to cut our trip short and leave after the first night. The manager called the next day and apologized, but said that this is wlthe way it is. She offered us a bottle of when for when we check out. But when we did go to check out, she conveniently disappeared, and the wine was forgotten. We dont even drink wine. However, it just goes to show the lack of commitment of the staff, and the lack of importance of the customer's experience. I'm very disappointed that such a lovely property is ruined by the...
