I stayed in this hotel for almost 2 weeks. I have to agree, that it was not up to Shangri-La standards, although I'm not sure if it's the fault of the hotel or general economic situation in the city. ||||The Russian restaurant is closed down, and there's only 1 Chinese restaurant which was fine, not amazing. One day I went and asked for a non-smoking area, they said the whole restaurant was non-smoking but there was 1 guy blatantly smoking and they just shrugged and did nothing about it. The lobby cafe is really not great. As for room service, don't bother... you'll have to go down to the restaurant to order. ||||I thought the rooms would be larger. A big problem is the stuffiness of the rooms - they get way too hot during the day and there is no AC; I see they've had this problem for a few years (I saw other reviews from years back) but they haven't done anything about it. They were nice enough to write a nice note and leave a humidifier, but it didn't really help lol. ||||The service was really good - I would say the people working at the hotel was the best part. Thanks to all the workers that constantly came to my room to help me open the window, restock my water, etc :) They were all really kind. The front desk workers were all really kind and helpful as well, and was nice chatting with them. ||||The service was generally a good experience except for one day, where unfortunately I had a bad experience. I was asking for directions to a restaurant and one front desk worker simply said she couldn't help me and told me to go on Baidu maps to find it myself... if I had data (I had no Chinese SIM) and was able to read Chinese, I would obviously it myself. I asked if she could help me search online as I didn't read Chinese and she just ignored me, when finally a group of Chinese tourists helped me instead. It took them 30 seconds to pull up on their phone. ||||Also, you'll probably have trouble here if you don't speak Chinese. ||||Location is good and close to the city centre,...

Read moreThis is the priciest hotel in Manzhouli but that doesn't mean you get any decent internet speeds. I struggled to ever get more than 100kb/s, which for a supposed luxury hotel is beyond unacceptable and something I have rarely seen in my ten years in China. I also did not appreciate that on the slow Chinese New Year night the hotel seemed to cluster all its guests onto the seventh floor. Why do I have to listen to loud arguments from the guests next door all night long when there is ample space to distribute guests over? Planning like this is acceptable from lower-end hotels who prioritize their cleaning workload over guest comfort but at this price level it is just...
