I have known of Kashgar for years because of its importance to the Silk Road. It was quickly planned trip and I chose the Radisson Blu because of good experirences that I have had with the brand in other locations. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted enthusiastically by Aria and the crew at the front desk. Aria even walked me pretty far to a restarant located in the same building later in my trip. My first night there was a sandstorm and the temperature in my room would not cool below 27C, the night crew was so helpful and ended moving me across the hall. Steven and Michael and Akhbar from management were always asking me how everything was and offering insights everytime that I walked through the lobby. The only criticism that I have is that the locker rooms in the pool area need some remodeling, there were some workers there the last couple days of my trip though. The pool itself was perfect and the attendants (Cindy, Katia, Meena, Winnie etc) were always cheerful and even would bring a bottle of water to my lounge while I was in the pool. Whenever I will return to Kashgar, I will stay here as I will urge friends of mine to...
Read moreWe stayed twice on two separate nights in a week. The first night was wonderful. However, our second visit back was a disaster.||||- the bathroom door wouldn't close||- the toilet wouldn't stop running||- the swimming pool was very cold (only stayed 15 minutes)||- only one person in the entire hotel spoke English, and he always had to be called over to answer questions||- WORST - we ordered room service and it simply never arrived. I called reception and they passed me to the English-speaker. He said I had called the wrong number and I needed to call the restaurant. He connected me, but the restaurant didn't speak any English and hung up on me. I ran downstairs to the lobby and they called him to come speak with me again. I placed my order. An hour later, it hadn't arrived. I came downstairs again. He apologised and said he'd speak with the kitchen. Another half hour passed, and the food hadn't come yet. I went back downstairs and he said the kitchen was probably busy, and that maybe my order was partially done? The food...
Read moreThe hotel is what you would expect from a Radisson hotel - comfortable, spacious and agreeable. The door for the toilet was a little bit hard to handle, though. The Nespresso coffee maker did not work. However, we could live with both issurs and did not bring them to the attention of the front desk.||Breakfast is ok, a choice of Western and Chinese food- a local section is available, too.||Staff are mostly trying to be of service. Smaller issues are resolved with a certain degree of flexibility. English is spoken only by some of the staff members, but an English speaker is always made available (if sometimes only on the phone).||Due to the location - not in the city center - we had to rely on taxis which were not always easily available. It was especiallyhard to organize a taxi for the transfer to the airport early in the morning. We had to insist somewhat before hotel staff were willing to organize one the night before. ||All in all a pleasant stay in a remote...
