Club Med Lijiang — Hotel in Lijiang City

Overall good 4 star family hotel, Rooms clean and decent F&B, located between the mountains & City., we booked thru ClubMed App the Transportation from Train Station to the Resort, despite having provided all arrival train information 1 week in advance, we got email from Clubmed 1 day before asking for Our arrival Flight number for pick up..😭😭.., despite we responded immediately their email, saying it was train station, not flight.., they didn’t even bothered to respond… When we arrived, we found 2 local taxi Didi driver with club med signage, we could have saved the money and book DiDi ourselves and not having to pay Clubmed to e overpriced transportation., we had to split into 2 cars since we were 5Pax. Also on the way to hotel, following DiDi driver recommendation to buy oxigen for mountain ., he took us to a shop that charged us 39RMB ( 5.5USD/ each), we bought 7 units and found out later that Standart price is around 10RMB..,( welcome to China..) When arrived club med we complained when checking in about lousy transportation., they didn’t even cared to listen..just ignored our complain. We went to the travel agency inside club med to check how to buy entrance tickets for the day after to visit key hotspots ( youlong snow mountain ropeway, blue moon lake & old city lijiang), they claim they only sell them for 2 days after, not 1 day after check in., they recommended we book a all day van for 7pax to take us around for the ropeway, lake & old city.., we paid 600RMB in advance., the day after, we found out out van was a very small size micro-van manual transmission 1000cc van.. the lady driver took us to the ticket office for the ropeway and lake and said she could not drive into the attractions directly, we had to take the bus.., so she drove us 20min from hotel to ticket office and nothing more.., we paid for the tickets around 500 RMB and also in order to allow our driver car drive into parking another 500RMB.., to find out at the end of our journey around 3pm at parking exactly same micro van charged 20RMB/ pax to city center( much further than back to club med..) Our driver was so happy we paid her 600RMB for just 20min work., she spent most of the morning collecting mushrooms near car park.. In short., I guess overpaying and being misleading by Clubmed travel agency is bad luck., I recommend get DiDi taxi directly from train station, not need to waste money with Clubmed.., Also I recommend get DiDi taxi from club med to snow mountain ropeway & lake ticket office (70RMB) not need to buy entire package of shows online and not need to book car & driver entire day since they can only reach ticket office. The people is lijiang is amazing, this is one of he best well kept old town in China, blue moon lake & youlong snow ropeway is amazing., please come and hopefully u can avoid my mistakes and have a great...

I was at Club Med Lijiang for 6D5N with my family of 4 during the March school holidays.

Overall, the resort is a 10/10 in many aspects.

Activities: having kids at around age 8 and 12, the activities that they enjoy can all be found within the resort - pool, sports, outdoor activities etc. And this also creates bonding opportunities between the family.

Food: you will never be bored; it is different daily, with both international and local cuisine.

GO: GO is like a host within the resort and everyone is assigned one specific GO and many GOs that you can walk up and talk to. The hospitality they provide are top notch and they pay attention to all details. My GO - Winnie - went beyond the extra mile; when my wife fell sick and had to go to the hospital at wee hours, she accompanied my wife until 1am which provide me time and space to take care of my 2 kids at the resort.

Parties: the daily night parties are the highlights of the day. The GOs who had day duties will all party hard with the resort guests with different themed parties everyday, with some GOs even performing on the trapeze!

Location: at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Moutain, the view is breath-taking.

Beyond the resort, the various tourist attractions are easily accessible via DiDi, so this adds additional variety to the resort activities.

I was fortunate this time that there was a once-in-two-decade heavy snow which covered the resort in a wintery white cover for 1 day. The kids were ecstatic.

A special call-out to two people as well - Hailey who is the Village Chief and Cassidy who was the APAC Chef. I had some issues with the pricing of a star-gazing activity, in which I was overcharged when I booked it via the Club Med SG website. Hailey had promptly followed up on it which helped to expedite the service recovery. Cassidy, whom I met on the plane to Lijiang, knew of the situation also help to escalate it even though this wasn't his duty. This really speaks volumes about a resort that treasures guests and ensure nothing will taint a perfect experience.

Having wrote this review, I look forward to future experiences with Club Med, be it at Lijiang again or...

This is our family's second Club Med, and once again, Club Med has gone beyond the service that you can ever expect from any hotel today. It is not just that everyone in the family had fun; we created memories, made friends, shared amazing meals, bonded as a family. ||But Club Med Lijiang went on step further. We had a small incident during our trip, and throughout the ordeal, the team behind Club Med Lijiang was assuring, and made sure that our kids were entertained and occupied even when we were dealing with our hiccup. No one wants an accident, and it was certainly no fault of Club Med. The incident reminded me of why Club Med is still a top-notch destination to go to for families. ||Apart from their service, the location is not only convenient, it is simply breathtaking. Nested just below the gorgeous Jade Dragon Mountain, on a clear blue sky, every photo taken is just amazing. ||I would like to take the opportunity to thank Haily and her amazing GOs who made our stay there so memorable. I special shout out to Edna, who was within a Wechat away with every single silly question we had, or any request that we asked for, she was always there to answer them on the spot. To Sheba, who was always around my kids ensuring they are having a great time, be it in the kids club or the evening dance parties. To Alan, you hosted the most entertaining shows every night, and made it so much memorable when you got my wife and me on stage on our last night to perform, we had so much fun! And lastly, Sarah, who was caretaking our teen, you made her time in Club Med so memorable, she is asking when we can come again. ||Club Med has redefined our view of what a holiday should be. We had great fun there. And for an family with young kids contemplating going to Club Med Lijiang, dont hesitate. You wont regret it.
