Treasure Harbour (or Wonderport) is a luxury Chinese-style hotel situated mid-way between the old towns of Lijiang and Shuhe. A convenient 20-30RMB taxi ride takes you to either. Being outside the old town means more space for your money and good chance of a room with a view of Jade Dragon Snow mountain, which I had without any extra payment. I make the effort to add this review as when taking a taxi from Shuhe back to the hotel one evening I was silly enough to leave my wallet in the taxi. It is standard hotel policy to record the number plate of all departing and arriving taxis so when I realised my mistake I asked the doorman for the number. It was late on a Sunday evening and when the security manager tried to contact the company they were closed. This was a big problem as I had an early morning flight to catch home and I needed my ID card. The hotel assistant manager was fantastic and knowing my problem really went the extra mile by contacting a friend of a friend who worked at the taxi company and was able to contact the driver who in turn returned my wallet. Amazing!! And completely impossible without the extra effort of the assistant manager who also refused any tip or reward I wanted to offer her. Worth praise for this alone. PS Lijiang and surroundings are a great place to visit, particularly this time of year - just don't misplace...
Read moreThis hotel was under receivership in 2017 & is now known as Wonderport International Hotel.||||There is nothing "International" about this. Whilst the rooms & reception are were large & opulent in furnishing, everything stops here.||||Beds were uncomfortable - thin, hard & the springs were worn. The room was poorly lit with limited dim lights. Slippers, safe, kettle, teabags & a fridge was provided.||||The heating & central system are turned off at 10.00 pm each night. We & our group of 14 friends were FROZEN for 2 nights. Despite ringing Reception for heaters or leaving the heating on, we were told to use the thin blankets provided in the room. Obviously, we were all sick with the cough & cold after these 2 nights.||||Shops in the arcade were dismal & showing signs of closing down.||||No wonder the facility is going downhill & will soon be facing bankruptcy if the present management does not turn around.||||Breakfast was chaotic with lots of pushing & jostling & shouting with local tour groups.||||Stay away unless you want to catch a cold or fight over the dismal array of...
Read moreThe staff and service were amazing, but this is not an "international" hotel. Mattresses are very hard-China style. The hotel listed both Eastern and Western restaurants on site, but only had Eastern food, and I am not a fan of goose feet or pig intestines. 2 of the staff spoke English and were very helpful, but ordering a drink in the hotel lounge was an exercise in patience. Air conditioning is non-existent and we had to have a fan brought to the room. The hotel is beautiful. The staff was very nice and very attentive. The management needs to update their description of available amenities because this is definitely NOT an international hotel by Western standards. The rooms were large, mattress uncomfortable, no A/C. Hotel grounds are beautiful. Do not book here if you don't know some Mandarin. If the management would make a few corrections, this place would be timeless...
