I stayed in Wanda realm in Honggutan, Nanchang from 10-15 November and it was a mostly wonderful experience. The location was superb, just a stone's throw from the massive Wanda plaza and 金街 foodstreet which has great selection of local food at reasonable prices. The rooms were very comfy, facilities a bit aged but still good, and the breakfast was amazing, with great selection of western, chinese and nanchang local specialities. But what really made the difference is the high service standard from the front desk, the housekeeping (thank you Ms 管春澜) and the executive lounge. The 2 ladies on duty at the lounge (12-15 Nov) make great coffee and were patient and knowledgable about the ingredients of the food as my wife doesn't take meat. Above all, I am super impressed with Mr Wei (小魏), a lobby manager. He was meticulous, super helpful, patient and offers good advice and assistance on many issues we encounter as foreign tourists such as using China apps. He even offers his personal wechat and responds to queries and make sure to follow up on matters even on his off day! I have never come across such dedication from any 5 star hotel staff to non-vip guests. The only issue I have is that the hotel is quite lax in its non-smoking policy. I encounter cigarette smoke in the lifts, corridors and even the toilet of one of the executive rooms I moved into. I understand there are lots of local clients in this local 5 star hotel chain but it is something the hotel management should look into if it wants to more attract foreign tourists and live up to international 5 stars standard. Date of stay:...

Read moreI am afraid to say, this will be the last time I stay in a Wanda hotel anywhere in China. This specific hotel, like every other Wanda hotel, was clean, comfortable, had beautifully appointed rooms, a great shower, good WiFi, friendly and professional service(although I was surprised no English was spoken at check-in) and a good location. However, all of this is completely redundant when the room is simply too hot to sleep in. It’s a problem I have faced in at least two other Wanda hotels elsewhere in China. My friend and I didn’t turn the air conditioning off once during our two night stay, we also didn’t open the curtains at any point and, despite being set to the lowest possible temperature, the room never once got below 25°c. When you are paying for a five star hotel you should be able control the temperature of the room as one of the most basic...
