Novotel Nanjing East Suning Galaxy — Hotel in Nanjing City

Normally I wouldn’t choose this brand but we needed to stay here for a group activity due to it’s proximity - hence originally we chose the Westin but found it was much further away so moved here.|What I found was the nicest surprise!! Modern and quite new feel hotel - seems cannot have been open too long as the furnishings and condition is extremely good. Comfortable beds, big TV showing English Premier League football (very important feature for me) decent sized bathroom and most importantly very clean!!|Rooms have a huge indoor balcony which seems a bit of a waste of space and a window which can open - great for fresh air.|Breakfast dinner buffet was a mix of Chinese and western and a sushi / sashimi counter - reasonably priced; breakfast buffet had normal western and Chinese selections. Don’t expect too much here - it’s adequate, hot and tastes ok. |Not much around in the local area - a Suning mall opposite the hotel but that’s it.|I call this hotel a ‘Rare Gem’ because I didn’t expect much from Novotel brand before, choosing to stay elsewhere if I could, however for Nanjing East, I will definitely have no...

The Good||-Rooms are spacious||-Lots of green space/walking areas around the hotel (and in Nanjing in general)||-The price is decent...about $100USD/night||||The Not so Good||-Smoking...it’s allowed in the rooms and my room smelt horrible. I asked if I could change and they said ‘no’||-Some areas of the rooms are tired (see mildew pictures in shower)||-The INTERNET (if you can call it that; slow, unreliable and in China, much is blocked)||-The buffet...ahhh, yeah, food looked quite unappealing, dried out because it had been sitting out too long and choice was quite limited IMO||-Not close to anything really (but taxis are cheap here)||-mould/mildew in the bathrooms||-differing standards from other Novotels (I was served a water that had some type of white, granular sand all...

Small but warm reception. Checkin was swift. After I noticed my room was facing the passageway, I requested for a room change with no questions asked. 👍 Location is central 🍜🍔🍧🛍️🛒 with everything!!! Too rush for breakfast, can ask for container to do take-outs. Enjoy the local delights spread with some international mix. If you need to rush during peak hours, it is advisable to arrange through the conceige in advance. Hail a cab is challenging (even at the hotel lobby). Otherwise, train is a good option.
