The problem with late stage capitalism is that everyone seems forced to squeeze as much out of the customer as possible without regard for if the product or service is actually worth that money. The hotel seemed to take advantage of the fact that a wedding was being hosted and there is no doubt they raised the price because we were basically forced to use that hotel (to stay with the group). The location is obviously part of the cost but the hotel was incredibly basic with cheap fake nice touches in the tiny guest rooms. I can't imagine anyone agreeing that is worth $1000 for 2 nights. The saddest part is the rich white guy who feels proud of these policy decisions because his bottom line shows a slighter higher dollar amount probably doesn't even realize the damage he is doing to society. And the dark thing is that the more this happens to a well intentioned person, the more they feel like they need to also enact these types of abusive tactics to whoever their customers may be, making it nearly impossible to be a good person these days. "the art of the deal" being the moral compass for society does not bode...
