We've had several stays here since my last review (https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297470-d10911148-r799600682-DoubleTree_by_Hilton_Ningbo_Beilun-Ningbo_Zhejiang.html), including an unexpected, covid-19 related, extended stay over the turn of 2021-2022. I also brought colleagues here for a business event (and overnight stay), and have had multiple stays with just my two sons, and with both my sons and wife. As I said before, this is one of our favourite places in Ningbo for staycations. (Actually, I thought I'd put in more recent reviews, but I guess I'd forgotten to. Sorry.)||The most recent stay was for five nights, at the start of October.||As always, Lucy (in the Executive Lounge) was excellent. It was very nice to see Kracie at Reception, where she was wonderful and welcoming, as always. Iris Xue was (as always) professional and excellent. Asher Wang, whose name I often forget, was (also as always) outstanding. He is always a very cheerful and charming member of staff, but this time he also managed to resolve (possibly without even trying) a minor issue that could have left me unhappy --- as I said, though, his excellent service and attitude resolved everything perfectly.||As usual, our time in the swimming pool was very enjoyable. It is a lovely pool.||The room was beautiful. We had a very nice premier room, on the top floor, with a very nice view towards the East. The bed was fantastically comfortable; the bathroom (especially the bath) was great; desk, seats, etc were all great; and two tv sets made it easy to keep two sons happy. Thank you, DoubleTree.||The breakfasts, as always, were delicious. One of my only two (minor) issues was related to this, though. The buffet breakfast on the ground floor is delicious. Asher Wang seems to always be here, and he is excellent. He remembers us, and our preferred beverages every time. He even seems to remember our preferred food! One food item I always look forward to, and have every morning, is the delicious omelette that the chefs prepare on the spot. On one of the mornings, I got a bit upset when, as the chefs changed around, it seemed that my ordered/prepared omelette was given to a different guest (I blame the guest). Not the end of the world, but annoying. I wonder if the DoubleTree folks may like to consider how best to queue/associate the omelettes/etc with the guest who orders them. Anyway, after waiting and then seeing my omelette be given away to someone else, I returned to my seat to eat the other items I'd taken. I mentioned my dissatisfaction to one of the waiting staff, but about a minute or two later, Asher came to my table with a delicious-looking omelette and garnishes. TBH, I don't know if he knew anything about the problem --- he has always been so excellent, that I think he may simply have known that I'd ordered the omelette, and decided to bring it (with garnishes) to me. His actions made me forget my earlier unhappiness, and really saved the day! Kudos to Asher!||The only other issue I had this time was one that relates to another negative experience I'd had here before (https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297470-d10911148-r799600682-DoubleTree_by_Hilton_Ningbo_Beilun-Ningbo_Zhejiang.html): There seems to sometimes be some guests at the hotel who really need some lessons in manners, hygiene, and decency. The toe-nail-cutting woman in the lounge/bar was topped this time by a man cleaning his mouth out (with a finger; perhaps some things caught between his teeth), and flinging the removed materials around him. This was compounded by him doing this at the dinner buffet in the lounge, and flicking the material near/onto the plates to be used by others... :| Again, not the fault of the hotel, but I think DoubleTree may like to investigate how best to deal with this kind of behaviour. It really is disgusting!||Those two issues aside, this most recent 5-night stay, and all the others before it, was excellent. The staff (Asher, Lucy, Iris, and others) really do excel and make this hotel an excellent experience. We're looking forward to coming...

Read moreAfter our first stay here, in July 2020 (https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297470-d10911148-r769245533-DoubleTree_by_Hilton_Ningbo_Beilun-Ningbo_Zhejiang.html), we were excited to return. We've been back four times since (August 2020; November 2020; and twice in May 2021).||||Our second stay was about six weeks after our first. Again, it was me with my two young sons (5 & 9). Perhaps things had been too good the first time, because we were let down a little on the second visit. It was still very good, though. The check-in was perfect. The hot cookies were again appreciated by my boys. The room (premier king) was beautiful. I think it may have been the same one as our previous stay. It was a little grubbier than last time (hairs in the bath, toenails under the desk), but still a lovely room. The VIP lounge was closed this time, which was a pity. I had really enjoyed the views first time. We had a Happy Hour in the Lobby Lounge, which was nice, but not as good. The staff were excellent. Some other customers were not: one woman must have mistaken the lounge for her bathroom and was clipping her toenails in full view of everyone. :|||||Our 3rd stay (November 2020) was very enjoyable, though again without access to the lovely executive lounge. Our 4th and 5th stays (May 2021) did have the lounge back --- and it really is lovely. The food selection and drinks were great, and the staff very kindly prepared an extra plate of french fries for my sons.||||The swimming pool (a top attraction for us) is lovely.||||The breakfast is delicious.||||As with the DoubleTree in Chunxiao, the points rate jump from 10k per night to about 20k per night hurt. Nevertheless, this is also a favourite spot for us. We're looking forward to...
