Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Putian — Hotel in Putian City

My family lived here for ~1 week. Nice downtown location with a great mountain view. Room is spacious and has quiet AC so all family members had really nice sleep for days. There is an electric curtain between shower and beds so I can easily watch TV while observing kids playing water in the bath tub. Breakfast is awesome with many premium choices including tasty local food. Security guard is always polite, smiles to kids, and offers help.||Some disappoints:|- Very slippery bathroom, especially after shower. The tile is definitely not designed for bathroom so be cautious if you have kids. This is especially dangerous for disabilities.|- Staff service varies and really depends on who you met. Overall senior staff seems more professional than juniors.|- Kid playground hides underground and only opens on Saturday night? I really do not understand this policy.|- We saw dead roaches one day after returning to the room… This really hurts the DoubleTree brand. We called the front desk immediately and the staff apologized but refused to upgrade...

We have visited Putian 3 times and stayed at the Doubletree Hotel on two occasions. On the first visit we upgraded to an Executive room with access to the Executive Lounge which I would recommend if you are staying for a week or more. On our second visit we stayed in a regular room which was also of a very high standard. The hotel is well located with local shops, restaurants and an amenity park all within walking distance. Taxis are best ordered through the helpful hotel staff who will confirm the journey price with the driver. We found a young manager Jay to be very helpful and he was fluent in English. Everytime i come to Putian i stay at this hotel, but this time i was disappointed by the restaurant. First of all i reserved a room for two people using hotels.com and it included breakfast, but at the time of check-in i was advised the second person was going to be charged extra!! (i mean come on... if your reservation shows a room for two, breakfast included... it is a breakfast for two!!) and secondly... when going down to the restaurant it was a mess, dirty, messy, no fresh juices, fruit bar without fruit, stale breads, greasy but hard mini croissants... totally out of control!
