Stayed here for several days in October 2018 while attending a nearby conference. Great value considering the quality of the rooms and excellent service from the welcome staff. Very comfortable bed, all the amenities you require and in the evenings there are spectacular illuminated fountains a short walk away that are nice to watch - they were operating at 1945-2000 & 2045-2100 while I happened to be there, perhaps there are other displays at other times. Breakfast is served on the basement floor and has a good choice of western or Chinese food, with knives & forks available if you don’t cope well with chopsticks. There’s a pool on the 3rd floor and a gym. Bar on lobby floor is good value for a western-style hotel - 35 of local currency for 500ml draught Tsingtao beer for example. |Negatives? It’s a fair distance outside Qingdao if you need to be close to the city, a taxi will cost about 130-140 local currency (less than £15GBP) for a 40-45 minute journey. Getting back from the city can be tricky - I hailed several cabs and showed them the address card but they didn’t want to drive so far, so I walked to the central railway station where I had no trouble getting a taxi willing to drive the longer distance. They all have meters and I was never overcharged. |Overall a totally satisfactory place, if you were there in summer the beach looks good and I’d certainly consider it if I was visiting again and didn’t need to be in the...
Read moreThe hotel is nice, and the beds are comfortable, but...||||The first room I was assigned was 29 degrees C. I turned the A/C way down and left for an hour. When I came back, it was still 28 degrees, even though the outside temperature had dropped dramatically. They moved me to another room, which was 24 degrees C. Again, I turned the A/C way down, and left it set there for 2 days. The coolest the room ever got was 23 degrees. While this was bearable, I am used to sleeping in 19-20 degrees at the most.||||The staff could offer no relief, and only assured me that the weather would cool off. But that doesn't work when the windows don't open. My second room had a secondary unit in the corner, but it wouldn't cool the room either - all it did was blow warm air. I might understand if this was the middle of summer, but it was late October (and it was definitely cooler outside than inside the whole time I was in Qingdao).||||Breakfast was good, staff was friendly, and the rooms were clean. I just expect more from a Marriott.||||Next time I come to Qingdao, I'll find another hotel, unless it's the dead of winter, and A/C won't be needed.||||I would like to give the hotel a better rating for service and value, but without A/C, it isn't much of a...
Read moreNot so clean for the first rate hotel. Far away from the sea beach. Noisy in the mornings: the neighbors woke up us at 6 am by knocking at the next door. After all continued to walk around and booming the doors till 8 am in the morning, of course it was impossible to sleep or rest ever after. Even then we got to the sea they didn’t allow us to relax or to swim. The guards constantly annoyed us by the whistles and letting us know that we are not allowed even to sit in the beach. What a great weekend: you came to the beach and you are not allowed even to sit on the sand :( ! The most amazing time spending was at the hospital: we needed to do the test where was not possible to register and no one could help us to do that, after they sent us to the main department and they finally made for us the registration afterwards again sent us to stroll around the hospital to do the test. All that travel to do the test took us 3 hours to enjoy! By the way: the second day results didn’t show off! So the stuff has no any slightest idea how to ease the stay of their guests. I think all these terrible experience will not let other guests book this hotel and choose some...
