I arrived at 4 p.m., an hour after my scheduled check-in time, only to be told that my room was not ready and that I would need to wait another 50 minutes. I waited in the lobby for about an hour, but the room was still not available. The staff asked for my phone number so they could call me once it was ready, as I had to leave to meet a friend. They eventually called around 6:30 p.m. to let me know the room was prepared.When I returned to the hotel after dinner, I discovered there was no drinking water in the room. At first, I assumed this might be part of an ESG initiative, but I later had to go out late at night to buy water. On the second day, the staff gave me half a dozen bottles, and I realized they had simply forgotten. That was not the only oversight—they also forgot to close the balcony door. As a result, the room was extremely humid despite the air conditioning running at full power. I used my Hilton points redeemed two nights.| We checked in at the front desk and was asked to leave 1,000 RMB deposit authorization on credit card which I did. When leaving the hotel, it was quite clear that they indicated no additional charges at the hotel and they would release the fund.| Yesterday - a month later I accidentally found a hotel charge on my credit card in April when we were doing something else. Then I realized Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach actually went ahead and completed the authorization without my knowledge. | I am travelling quite frequently for business and have stayed at many Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton hotels. I never checked if hotel release the pre-authorization correctly and always trusted the global brands would do the right thing. | It just happens that my assistant caught it otherwise I would never know about it.| 1,000 RMB is not a big deal but it is a very unethical way to authorize guest deposit without consent. I called Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach and asked about it this two days ago, and they have not given me any feedbacks yet.| Given it is one month after the event, if it is just a mistake, hotel's finance team should have caught the difference between dues and collections. The location is too far from the airport,The hotel does not provide a shuttle or arrange pickup, so I had to arrange a private car to get to the hotel. The hotel is only 9 years old, but the inside of the hotel is surprisingly rusty… it feels like the hotel is at least 20 years+ old.The bathroom tiles are all pale and full of blue molds.I paid extra for an ocean view room, but the room had a pinch of an ocean view on the side with a huge amount of neon signs of some amusement park. I also paid extra for lounge access, but the lounge had a limit of one time visit/ day which is hard to understand and the service staffs were a bit undertrained to prepare the right food at the right time.It is also sad that the lounge did not have a breakfast option.The breakfast restaurant was super crowded with no tables to sit, and there were people waiting outside to get in.For the in-room amenities, it is important to ask for a teaset if you are a tea drinker, and do not expect any good coffee since the only in room coffee options are instant coffee powder. The entire space smelled unhygienic and humid.
