I wanna express my gratitude to all staff members at InterContinental Haitang Bay Resort, especially the GM Beatrice, the Deputy Front Office Manager Carter, the lounge manager Skye, the reservation manager Elaine, the guest service agent Lucy, the Housekeeping and the whole team! During our breakfast, the GM Ms. Wang went to the lounge to give us a warm greeting, which shows great hospitality to the loyal guests.
This IC is really a gem, which I will definitely recommend to my friends and colleagues. It’s perfect for all walks of travelers for leisure trips. It’s close to Sanya Duty Free Shopping Mall and the beach is right in front of the hotel. You can drive here from the airport or railway station with no hassle.
Before my arrival, the hotel contacted me to confirm my arrival time and room preference. I was offered a complimentary upgrade, which makes me feel so privileged.
Upon check-in, Carter(Deputy FOM) and his team gave me a warm greeting with the highest standard to the most valued guests. Our flight was delayed for two hours but they’ve been waiting for our arrival patiently. Carter was very hospitable and professional.
We were escorted to our Suite with ocean view. The check-in was made right in our room. How privileged it is! The hotel offered us the welcoming gift, snacks and red wine. And we enjoyed the complimentary welcome fruit plate (all seasonal fresh fruits) every single day.
After entering my room on the higher floor, I was immediately impressed by its contemporary design and great layout which makes it spacious. The bed was very comfortable and I slept tight all night.
I’ve got to mention that the lounge team were amazing. The lounge manager Skye is very hardworking, hospitable and kind. As for the food and beverages at the lounge, it was extremely great with very high quality. There are wide choices of hot meat, foods, fruits and beverages. And there’s cook-on-site service, you can order à la carte.
All in all, the deputy front office manager Carter and the lounge manager Skye are very hospitable and I enjoyed talking with them. Carter is also our butler during our stay. He catered to all my needs during my stay. And both Carter and Skye are very good at handling guest’s inquiries and taking quick responses.
I was very glad to have a late checkout until 4 pm. The checkout was processed smoothly. This hotel’s front desk staff are very highly efficient.
In a word, InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort has an excellent team led by its GM Beatrice. They are well-prepared and will cater to all your needs. It has modern decor, comfortable room with breathtaking ocean/lagoon view and good size, good facilities and breakfast, smartly located in a promising area with high speed of development. I had an unforgettable perfect stay and I have every reason to believe it won’t...
Read moreGrand, contemporary, spacious, and opulent are the words that I would use to describe the new Intercontinental Sanya Resort at HaiTang Bay. This resort opened in late December of 2013 is a real gem. The lobby of the hotel is designed in an open concept, open air style, with skyhigh doors that circles the lobby. The hotel also features a gigantic aquarium with large sea turtles, sharks, and stingrays. The amenities includes a state of the art health club that features individual exercise machines with touch screen TV that allows surfing the web and video games. Our room has dual his and her sinks in the bathroom and a nice tub on the balcony. (It was a bit strange taking a bath on the partially opened balcony!) Don't worry, they also have an indoor shower. I especially like the attention to details such as having electrical outlets throughout the room and multiple charging ports for new mobile devices next to the nightstand. The room also has all the modern fixings such as electric curtains, Nespresso machine, and a large LCD TV.
On the back of the hotel it has a large beach with white sands and nice tiki umbrella huts and chairs for you to relax in. The water here is fairly clear and it is far better than Sanya Bay or Dadonghai Bay. The only draw back is you are not allowed to swim in the ocean since we were told the current is too strong. Because the property is so new, there is hardly anyone on the beach which made the stay very relaxing and tranquil. For those of you who are looking for water sports you can take a 20 minutes ride to the pier and go on a boat to Wuzhizhou island.
The entire area is still under development which means there isn’t a whole lot to do around the property. There are a few mom and pop Chinese restaurants around the area but that’s about it. Right next to the hotel they are building a huge duty free mall but it will be awhile before the entire area is developed.
Doris, at the Ambassador club and Owen, the front end manager and the rest of the staff and management are friendly and helpful. BTW, as a Platinum Ambassador member, the petit fours are to die for. (My complement to the pastry chef) Just a suggestion, if you are arriving in the evening it is best to arrange for a ride to the hotel or know how much it cost to take a taxi (around 130-170yuan). The price gauging taxi drivers and the rude customs officials at the airport are annoying and obnoxious, but that is the norm if you have traveled around China. If you are an Ambassador member, the Ambassador Club on the 17th floor also offers a great view of the entire property.
The picturesque view of the property made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. I highly recommend this property for your next vacation or...
Read moreGood:- Beautiful sea-view room with a wonderful panoramic window.- Lovely tropical gardens.- Great swimming pool with lots of shaded areas and a transparent kayak.- Lovely beach with loungers, sunshades and basic amenities (lemonade, towels, beach toys).- Awesome night views.- Amazing open-air aquarium with exotic fish and turtles.- Great amenities for kids (electric vehicles, train, pedal karts, swimming pool floats and boats).- Friendly and helpful staff.- Great location near CDF mall.- Really good breakfast.Bad:- I received a significant electric shock just by touching the front tray of the children’s popcorn machine at breakfast. I immediately informed a member of staff whose response made me feel this was not the first time it had happened. They switched off the popcorn machine and said somebody would fix it. 10mins later we saw the machine was switched on again (the staff member said it was fixed).- The security chain on the door to our room locked itself from the inside after we left the room, so we could not get in when we got back. Had to wait 15-20min for staff to open the chain from the outside, then had to wait another 30-40min for a repairman to replace the old/faulty chain lock - this took a while because the new hardware did not fit properly and the door could not be closed (it was fixed with some loud hammering). The next day, the door couldn’t close again so I had to again wait for a repairman to fix it (more loud hammering).- A few times we had no response when calling “instant service” on the phone. The WeChat service was also sometimes slower than we’d expected, especially for urgent questions.- Tired and worn out exterior and interior decoration (faded/peeling paint, damp patches).- Wobbly fixings (balcony light, toilet paper holder).- Confusing A/C controls (two control panels, no indication what each one is for)- Live music started quite late and was loud - we had to close balcony door to let our child sleep.- Transparent doors to the shower and toilet cubicles.- Inconsistent service at breakfast (some days very attentive, some days not so).- No good value lunch or dinner options. I tried a room service salad which was terrible (it used canned beans, canned corn and canned chickpeas, and processed roast chicken) - surprisingly bad value and quality.- One evening our taxi was not permitted to enter the hotel grounds due to a special event. We had to walk up the long driveway with our (tired) young daughter….it would have been nice for the hotel to offer their electric buggy shuttle from the main road to the lobby.- After the trip, I received an email with a link to the bill, but this link took me to a web page which said an online bill was...
