The Hotel was lovely, and the amenities clean and lush. I’m writing this review to hope management can work on certain areas to truly make this hotel international and compliment its high standards discussed in the Marriott Bonvoy philosophy. Firstly it was very difficult to communicate with the staff as many did not speak English and were unable to understand basic questions. They need to employ staff that can communicate in English as this caused various frustrations to access services. No I can’t do is not an answer one should expect when paying high prices for this hotel. Secondly the pool on the theirs floor should be for adults only, as the 4 pools downstairs is ample enough to entertain young children. There were 2 members of the staff that went out of there way to assist, 1 make in the restaurant and the concierge manager. They had a can do attitude and sought answers or took time to understand basic requests. I did not feel foreigners were really welcome here. Ohh and the bar man that made amazing cocktails on level 3 he was a great asset to the experience and made beverages that were not on the menu. I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights , I wasn’t super needy, just wanted to know when I could collect a parcel or make a restaurant booking for another establishment, the response was I don’t understand, so no, or do it yourself. Not acceptable for this Brand of hotels, I couldn’t order room service because they did not understand. Finally I asked the girl on the phone to find someone who does, after she hung up on me, this was said in a calm voice. Not sure I would head back here again as I’m used to high standards and have stayed in some of the best resorts all over the world. This ranks poorly on my list. This could have...
Read moreThis hotel was nothing short of amazing! GET THE BREAKFAST! The breakfast buffet was everything, the dinner buffet was OK. The hotel has 2 beautiful pools, but you can also swim at the Marriott pools next door as well. Marriott's dinner buffet was very similar but a tad better there. I had the glamorous oceanview room and it was LOVELY. The huge tub in the bathroom was so nice to sit and soak in. My favorite part of the room was the balcony. It was very private and so nice to sit and just look at the beach and the ocean, enjoy a glass or two. It rained a couple of days while I was there so it was nice to sit and listen to the rain. Whenever I was in the room, I opened the balcony door all the way and just relaxed inside. No need to worry about bugs or anything coming into the room. This was probably one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. Also, I can't end this review without raving about the customer service! it was SPLENDID! They did everything I wanted, the came very quickly when I requested for anything. As a foreigner, you almost forget you're in china because of how well they treat you. It was my birthday and they arranged a cake for me and made my bed with special decorations. It was magnificent. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. If I had to ask for one thing to make my stay better, it would be bottomless mimosas at breakfast. That would have put them over the top. Thanks so much! I would 1000% stay here again. One thing that surprised me was the 10,000 RMB deposit at check in. I prepaid for my room so I wasn't expecting it. I was happy to pay it, but I think it's something they should mention when booking so that customers won't...
Read moreShanghaitian is a comparable small hotel in China, but has a lot of benefits. We choose the hotel for 3 nights as we supposed to meet another friend in Sanya, therefore we wanted to stay close to the center. The welcome was very kind and we loved the spacious room, facing mainly the ocean and overlooking the other partner hotel JW Marriott. The bay is nice but you can’t go to the ocean/ beach as it’s locked and very rocky.||The breakfast was also full of variants, we love Chinese food so we didn’t miss anything although a huge selection of pastries and bread awaits you. Many freshly squeezed fruit juices and salads. ||||Also the pool area is quiet nice, a big infinity pool on floor three and two others on the lower levels. We tried the infinity once but felt more calm and relaxed on the ground floor. It would be nice to have a regular pool bar service around, although they have a pool bar you need to go yourself to order and check. The food from the pool menu is unfortunately not our taste, the burger was soso and the bruschetta exists of two small tiny pieces of bread with mushrooms, small hill of Ricola aside, a bit overpriced with 68RMB, in our opinion. The wine/ beverages are ok , nothing special and the wine (which we like to drink mainly) isn’t spectacular. But they try to make you comfortable and issue also an English speaking contact by wechat if you wish for. We mainly dined outside as there was a great Italian outside and we didn’t eat western food for a long time. ||So overall for a short stay I would choose again. We wanted to have twice a pedicure but unfortunately wasn’t possible , but didn’t know why, but found it...
