Upon entering the Blue Horizon International Hotel, I couldn’t help but notice the very festive Christmasy decor at the hotel entrance & lobby area, (despite being over a month after Christmas). It was still nice to see & I suspect that these decorations may have been left up for the upcoming Chinese New Year. I especially liked the big stuffed penguin at the front door entrance. It was very cute & welcoming! ||My room was spacious & the firm bed gave me a good night sleep. My only criticism about the room was that the air was a little dry. Unfortunately, this is common in most hotels during winter months due to electrical heating & the inability to open sealed windows. Speaking of electrical, it was convenient that the outlets in the room accommodated different types of plugs, which included ones used in North America. ||The ensuite bathroom was nice & although there was no bathtub, the roomy shower area was great & the water pressure was perfect. In addition, the “A’Gensn” shower gel with olive oil & rose essence, was one of the best shower gels I’ve ever used at a hotel! ||There were two complimentary bottles of water left for us with an engraved table-top sign|which read, “Please enjoying yourself.” Of course this sign took on a meaning that was different from its original intention. I actually thought it was funny, but was a little puzzled why the hotel didn’t get someone to proofread the English, once they were spending so much money on the engraved signs. That being said, I did enjoy the water…and the sign.||The breakfast buffet was excellent & the hotel staff was also efficient & friendly (which is not always the case in China). The only downside to the Blue Horizon, is its out-of- the- way location. Otherwise, if you don’t mind not being in a central location, this hotel is a good...
Read moreI booked this hotel thinking that it was walking distance to the exhibition center when looking it up at Google maps. Apparently the Google Maps marker I was way off and the hotel is a over 2 kms away.||Although the location is further away than expected, transportation by taxi to the exhibition center is painless and takes only 5 to 10 minutes. ||Thanks to the affordability, I can upgrade to be executive suites which I believe is much nicer than the regular rooms. The executive rooms are located at the back of the hotel in a separate building. The rooms are big and the whole building is very quiet which is a big plus for me.||The staff is polite, speaks broken English, and are helpful. The breakfast spread is almost entirely Chinese, and have enough variety that even though they don't change often, you won't...
Read moreForget sketchy hotels around the airport. With the Maglev ( 7 minutes) and taxi ( 5 minutes), this hotel is only 20 minutes total after picking up luggage. To make it really easy check your luggage and travel light. We even had enough time to do some last minute shopping. You won't find comparable around airport for less than twice the rate and that would not include a really sumptuous...
