This hotel is about as good as it gets in China. Modern, clean stunning rooms high quality finish to all facilities and extremely helpful staff. ||My son lives in Minhang district so this hotel was handy and whilst it is outside of the main sights of Shanghai it is ten minutes from a metro station or 30 by taxi. ||I cannot fault the hotels service, we checked in and went to our room and there was a slight issue with the air conditioning. One simple phone call to reception and a team of maintenance staff were attending our room in five minutes and apologetic as they thought they kept us waiting!! ||The breakfast is fantastic such a choice no one from anywhere could complain or be disappointed. The coffee is a highlight for me as a fussy coffee drinker!||The amount and choice of food available is awesome. ||The whole hotel is run efficiently and there are a large number of staff who speak good English and will help sort taxis or anything you need. ||The rooms are quiet, cleaning staff are efficient and everything works to a high standard. ||I am rarely impressed by hotel service however the Crowne Plaza staff are an exceptional group of people who truly understand the needs of foreign guests. ||Highly...

Once inside, the hotel looks very clean and high end.
Checking in was very quick and staffs were polite and smiling.
My luggage were brought to my room right away.
The room looks very high end, toilet, shower and bath tube were located separately to ensure privacy. The bed was very comfortable so were the pillows. It had great view of Pudong.
Breakfast buffet was usual high-end and bustling with guests.
The prepared foods were more of Chinese side considering most of guests were Chinese but, omelette and egg station made everything fresh. The bacons and breakfast sausages were good. Saw about 5-6 westerners dining near my table.
After breakfast, I strolled around hotel property, everything looked beautiful and I especially liked Water fall area next to swimming pool. It was very relaxing, spent about half an hour listening to water falling. Bring your swim wear because they have large size pool with lifeguard working. Has a nice spa area as well.
I was considering staying near bund area but, decide to stay close to my business contact's office. CP was a great find and will stay here whenever I have business...
Read moreIt was my 2nd time staying at this hotel around middle of April. My first stay in January was great. However for the 2nd stay in April, I ran into some unexpected experience.
The temperature in Shanghai on April 21 - 23 was over 30C but there was no air conditioner in hotel room! Asked the front desk I was told that the hotel does not start the air condition until May 1st. I was shocked! Even though it may be the hotel policy of no air condition before May 1st (very uncommon in a high scale international hotel), the over 30C temperature won't let the hotel to relax on the policy to make customer comfortable? I didn't sleep well for the first night. After I complained next day, the front desk sent me a fan to help cool down the room temperature.
When I checked out on 4/23, I selected using local currency (RMB) on the transaction paper and told the staff to do so as well. However I just found out from my credit card that the hotel charged me in US$ which has a pretty high exchange rate (0.165224). Not sure whether it was a junior staff without experience or something else.
Anyway, it is a nice hotel with impressed facility. But the service really needs quite lot...
