Holiday Inn Express Shanghai Jiading Industry Park — Hotel in Shanghai

The Good Points:The young lady at reception for check-in was lovely -Polite, smiling, efficient and a pleasure to deal with - She is an absolute credit to the hotel 👍The bedrooms are largeThe shower in the bathroom was very good 👍The breakfast was ok 👍Close to lots of local restaurants 👍The Bad Points:The hotel is quite old and worn now with things you notice such as carpets dirty, things generally broken etc.I was stood in the looby searching for a shopping mall on my phone map, and was approached by 2 (a man and a woman) hotel management staff to offer help - When it got too difficult for them to help, they gave up and just walked off 🤷♂️ - These 2 members of staff have almost zero understanding of customer service The Worst Point:You could suffocate to death in this hotel - There is no air conditioning in the corridors and the air conditioning in the rooms does not cool the room - When I put the air conditioning on in my room the room temperature was 24 degrees, I set the air conditioning to cooling and 16 degrees as it was so hot, but the room temperature increased to 25 degrees 🤦♂️ The hotel lobby was unbearable because of the heat and lack of air - In the morning after breakfast in the lobby restaurant, I was so hot I had to take a 2nd shower to cool off.Of the 2 lifts in the hotel, 1 had working air conditioning, so I used to ride the lift to cool down!Because of the heat in my bedroom, I could not sleep well and consequently had a tough day at work as I was tiredMy colleague had the same complaints about the hotel and his bedroomStaying in this hotel is very uncomfortable and unhealthy because of the heat and poor air conditioning - You will not get a good rest staying...

The hotel is an below average Holiday Inn hotel. The reception and Check-in went smoothly and the IGH award status was acknowledged. However due to unclear reasons the air-conditioning system, which already performed very poor, was switched of in the night. Most likely to save some energy costs, because my Colleague had the same experience 5 floors down and other guests confirmed this as well. I had to take a cold shower almost every hour because the temperature and humidity was unbearable! Going down to reception to report this had no effect, the girls pushed an i-Phone towards my face with apparently a translation program. No English. Also the manager in the morning played innocence and came up with all kind of silly excuses. Because of the industry around they still have guests enough, despite the bad service. That luxury position was noticeable by means of the attitude of the staff, they showed no real interest at all. If you do not speak Chinese and cannot stand hot rooms in the summer, stay away...

I stayed here twice in my last visit to JiaDing. It is very close to the company location, the main reason for selecting this hotel. As a platinum member, I was greeted warmly and received my room upgrade. The room is large and comfortable. Breakfast is very simple, not many choices, but this is OK for me. There is no onsite restaurant, but have multiple local restaurant just outside the hotel. There are two things that I am not satisfied: (1). The carpet in the room is not very clean; (2). there is no telephone and electrical outlet on the desk, not convenient for...
