Excellent housekeeping team, with a welcoming smile and greeting in the morning, with perfect room cleanliness. The hotel is perfectly located if you are attending a fair in Shanghai international exhibition center, and a bit more than a 100 rmb taxi fare away from pudong airport. Metro station and a huge mall are 10 minutes away by walk. Quentin on the reception is welcoming, helpful, and speaks good English. Bed and pillows are comfortable as always in IHG standards. Good WiFi signal covering the hotel. Breakfast is poor, according to foreigners, since all the available is local Chinese breakfast; cornflakes is available but I couldn't handle for 5 days straight. Some breakfast staff are rude, I asked if fried eggs are available, one lady said no we cant make, I asked another lady, and I received my egg plate with a smile. The same situation happened 3 days in a row with different staff members !!!! Finally the biggest problem I faced during this stay, is the air conditioning in the room ! I had the heater only available in the room although the temperature outside was 25 degrees !! The team failed to fix the problem, and they said they configure the central air condition system according to season, and now only heater is available !! This made me sleep 3 am, and made me reach late to my appointment at 8am, which definitely affected me. The second day, the problem was "solved" by sending a fan to the room. The situation became better, but I don't think it is a suitable way for the image of IHG, one of the biggest and most experienced chain in hotel and...
Read moreHoliday Inn Express, Jin Qiao Central (2024-09): was quite impressive for the following: room service was excellent, promp, couteous, friendly cleaning lady, etc. SOME (note some) front desk staff were very courteous, heloful (evening staff) Loaned umbrella without cause & fuzz.
Here are the annoying behaviors of the front desk staff (Some - noted) Asked if hotel provided shuttle services, NEVER was the answer. I know, prior Covid, it did assist customers in arranging this service. Provided concierge service to newly arrived customers. The front desk staff (day shift) vehemently stressed this Holiday Inn Express had NEVER helped customers to bring their bags to the rooms.
Holiday Inn Express Jin Qiao Central - I am absolutey disappionted about the attitude and knowledge of the hotel front desk staff about its past services. I am absolutey fine when am told the hotel is no longer provide certain services, BUT, "NEVER" - is not the word used in the "Hospitality" Industry.
Rating: Room-4* is only for the room services, not the front desk staff. It at most, only deserves a 2*. Service-4* is again for room services Location-3* "Over all" - deserves in 3* Note: I have been to Shanghai more than 10 years, therefore I think I know a little about the Shanghai...
Read moreI stayed in the hotel for 12 nights under a previous reservation. I could not change the reservation to add another night. Hence I made another reservation for one more night as I have virtual training on 31st of March (9am-6pm). When I checked in, I told them about it and was told that I can come by the front desk and have the card activated for another day. On the 30th, I went to the front desk to confirm that I can stay in the same room. That was when the problem started. I was told that the hotel is fully booked and I have to move on 31 March!!! I told them I do not have time to to change room as I would be occupied the whole day. They still could not accommodate despite being a Spire Elite Member!!! I any case, I was so furious that I told them they have to move my things for me, and I greatly appreciate that they did. I was also offered another platter of fruit as a peace offering. My stay under previous reservation was perfect; they upgraded me to one of those newly refurbished room. Besides, a member of staff by the name of Sue Sun helped me with the laundry and told me that it was free as a Spire Elite member! Apart from the fact that they cannot let me stay ONE MORE NIGHT in the same room ruined an almost...
