The main reason I chose to stay at this hotel was its location — I needed accommodation close to Pudong Airport, and I’ve stayed with Holiday Inn a few times before.

The customer service was okay, though there is definitely room for improvement. When I had questions or needed assistance, the staff did make an effort to help. Interestingly, the back-of-house staff, such as housekeeping, were noticeably more friendly and helpful than the front desk staff.

Room cleanliness was acceptable, but it was easy to see how old the room was from the worn furniture and bathroom amenities. Some of the furnishings were not fully functional.

The biggest issue during my stay was the air conditioning. We checked in during the late afternoon, after sunset. The room temperature was 28°C, with the air conditioning set to “warm” mode, and the fan was quite loud. I switched it to “cool” mode and set the temperature to 18°C, but the system continued to blow warm air, and the room temperature stayed around 27°C.

I contacted the hotel for help and spoke with several receptionists. Unfortunately, they all gave the same standard response instead of acknowledging the issue and trying to resolve it. I was told the air conditioning is controlled by a central system and that they couldn’t adjust the temperature for individual rooms. My concern was: why was the room temperature fixed at 27°C regardless of the outside temperature (which was between 15°C and 25°C), and why were the lobby and hallways at a much more comfortable 18°C?

Another issue was smoking. Despite “No Smoking” signs in most areas, there was a noticeable smell of smoke throughout the building, especially in the public lifts and the hallway to the rooms.

Overall, my two-night stay at this hotel was a memorable experience — but unfortunately, for the wrong reasons. It was a poor experience considering the high cost of accommodation...

I spent two nights in this hotel with my family to experience its wonderful swimming pool though we stay in the same city.

The swimming pool is nice. But the stay experience was bad.

As a platinum member, I am entitled to a room upgrade. I booked executive room, but when I checked in the receptionist only gave me a very small room and told me it was already an upgrade, they called it mini-suite. And during check in, they also told me because of rennovation so I cannot enjoy the executive lounge. But when I made the reservation and booked executive room, nobody told me at that time and I still need to pay executive room money but cannot enjoy the benefit I deserve. Later, they gave me a bigger room which is a real executive suite after I insisted. But in evening we found out the air conditioning system in that room (2108) didn't work properly, the room gets extremely hot and my wife get sick because of that. In the next day, we reported this issue to the hotel and they sent a maintenance guy to this room, this guy told us the hotel shut down the cooling system to save cost and it was not the first time the guests report similar issues. I cannot believe the hotel management can make such kind decision and gave its platinum member a room with bad air conditioning system. Later, we had to change to another room at the other side (1819). Very bad sleep and stay experience.

The cafe in the 1st floor also under rennovation and the hotel opened a hall to accommodate breakfast. The air conditioning in the hall is not enough thus we felt cool when we had breakfast on the 1st day. There was an event/meeting with a big group of people during that weekend. So on the 2nd day, the breakfast place was very crowded and there was no enough food or plate to serve. Service was very bad. We just ate very little then left because too many people and...
