I was offered this hotel for my very long transit in Shanghai. The airlines did a very good job in arranging for my hotel. I was the only one from my flight transiting at this hotel. Some of the people I met on board who also had a long layover were placed in a different hotel. The shuttle service that brought me to the hotel was pretty big, it was like a coaster van and I was the only one on it. The driver was very nice and accommodating enough to help me with my baggage. ||||Check in was very smooth and quick and I was ushered to my room right away. The room was clean and basic. I couldn't complain for a free hotel. It's got everything I need from toiletries, slippers and bottled water. I did have a good rest during my stay. They also offered free breakfast buffet on the next day. They have Chinese food to offer like: fried rice, fried noodle, vegetables, buns, soya milk and congee. Also, wifi was pretty okay. Just download VPN app to make Facebook and other social media to work.||||I checked out immediately after breakfast because my friend who was staying at a different hotel (also provided by China Eastern ) has a later check out time and a shuttle service at the late afternoon. This was one of the downsides to this hotel that the latest shuttle they offer you is at 12 noon. What if your flight was still at the evening? Then you would have to get a taxi. Which was not available as well. You had to arrange with the hotel lobby for car service. ||||Also, the hotel didn't have much stores or restaurants around so for tourists who want to roam around. There's not much to do or see in the area. I suggest renting the hotel car service to take you around the city. This is what I did, it should cost you 200 RMB per way so 400 RMB in total. Our driver was very knowledgeable and nice. I do know how to speak Mandarin so it was easier for me to communicate with the hotel driver and staff. If not, I suggest to download an app to help you...

Read moreI initially booked a hotel in Shanghai for my 25 hour layover to Phuket. When I found out China Eastern offered a free transit hotel i canceled my booking and took the free hotel. I regret my decision. The hotel was clearly very old and worn. It’s located in what appears to be an alley way. My biggest issue was the shower. The shower did not drain at all so anything over a few minutes would cause water to overflow to the bathroom floor. I will say the free breakfast was...
