Qingpu Hotel — Hotel in Shanghai

A friend who has a business in the area always stays at this property, it's cheap, clean, comfortable and in a great position to get to restaurants, shopping and historical sites.||It doesn't have the glitz and glamour of the new hotels, but I has a charm about it. ||Check in is easy, the staff are very obliging and the service as good as any higher class hotel.||The facilities offered match all hotels rated higher, it is a great hotel for the business man on a budget. ||The rooms have wi-fi which is reliable and easy to log onto, a few negatives, though.||Breakfast doesn't cater for western tastes as most business class hotels, but there is plenty of food.||The bathrooms area small and difficult to move in but, they are clean and the showers are hot and reliable.||The beds are comfortable and there are the normal facilities such as bar fridge, safe etc.||The bar is on the street frontage and is also comfortable.||They have a driver who is very obliging and knows all the best places to eat.||While in the area, try the for massage and face massage salons near the lake.||Sure it's not for tourist as the area is an hour+ drive to downtown Shanghai but for the business man on a budget, needing to be in the area, it's ideal.||The important things like cleanliness, security, comfort,...

I was booked in here by a supplier for one night due to factory function I attended. The hotel is pretty old, fairly clean but not great. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I felt like a foot massage that night and was escorted by one of the staff right to the massage place and introduced to them.||||Sleep quality is poor due to the main street being very nearby. Drivers start hooting very early in the morning - like 4h00! and this does not lend itself to peaceful sleep.||||I would not stay here for long as some other reviewers have stated.||||I must commend one of the staff who arranged for some laundry to be done at short notice for me.||Lots of shops nearby and generally quite an entertaining place to walk around.||The usual practice of smoking in any area of the hotel applies here as well. Stayed here for a month on business. Although the hotel is comfortable enough the advertising and facilities are false. The website, guest information book and room key cover all advertise "Bar 79"-- well there is no such thing. The Guest information book and reception also advertise 10 x currencies for exchange and that also includes Australian dollar but when wanting to exchange $100 AUD they refused saying only $US and Euro??? The internet is very unreliable and cuts out on a daily basis. Very frustrating when nobody speaks English at reception to ask what is wrong with internet. On a positive note the food is good esp dinner but the buffet food should be labeled in English and Chinese. This hotel should update their website and change their information if things are...
