Shanghai Marriott Hotel Kangqiao — Hotel in Shanghai

My overall stay at the Shanghai Marriott was great! I was able to book a room last minute. Upon my arrival, I was greeted at the entrance by a young gentleman. He helped me with my bags to the check in counter. I didn't have RMB to pay my taxi driver and the gentleman walked with me to the atm machine where I had the option to either use my Visa debit card or use the machine next to it. The machine next to the ATM required a form of ID (passport etc) and takes whatever currency (dollars in my case) that you have. It then converts it into RMB and gives you a receipt at the conclusion of your exchange transaction. I paid my taxi driver, walked back to check in. I was given information on where the pool, gym, dining/buffet area was etc. I was also informed the hours of breakfast since I had booked a room that included breakfast. I believe the young lady told me 6:30 am - 10:30 am.

My first impression upon entry to my room was amazing-wow! I loved that the doors didn't require a key or key card that needed to be inserted in a door handle. You just tap your key card and it turns green. I loved the lights in the room. My fav area was the bathroom! I loved that there was both a tub AND a shower in the room. I prefer stand in showers to tubs. I also loved the shower head! The closet had slippers and a lot of hangers. I love the robes! The vanity was beautiful. I loved that toiletries were provided. It's key to have a toothbrush because one might need it if they ever forgot it. I loved the black out curtains in the room as well. Great because I was able to sleep in until 9am in the morning.

The next morning, I got ready and went down for breakfast. I was greeted at the front and the attendant requested my key card to scan at the front. I noticed there was a European young lady and she had the warmest smile and seemed excited to see me.

Food options were amazing! You have to check it out yourself. It's not like the buffet here on America. They have a variety of options.

5* Haus mit allem Komfort; 2018 eröffnet. In diesem Hotel stimmt die "Hardware", im Gegensatz zur "Software". In Neubaugebiet ohne Geschäfte/Restaurants in der näheren Umgebung; absolut ruhig. 5 Gästelifte. Personal in sehr gepflegter Erscheinung und zeigt Hilfsbereitschaft. ATM. Nur Nichtraucher-Zimmer; Rauchen nur ausserhalb des Hotels erlaubt, u.a. in bequemer Aussenbestuhlung direkt neben Restaurant "Goji Kitchen", ohne Konsumationspflicht. WiFi problemlos. Englischsprachige Lokalzeitung bei Concierge. Betreute Kinderspielhalle, kostenlos: Gross, hell, sauber, aufgeräumt + abwechslungsreich; bedingt jedoch zwingend die ständige Anwesenheit eines Elternteils (09-21 Uhr). Nächste Metro-Stationen "Kangxin Highway"/Linie 11 und "East Zhoupu Road Station"/Linie 16, beide Stationen jedoch ausser Gehweite, d.h. Alternative mit Taxi. Grosszügiges Hallenbad (10x25 M.), Sauna und einen XXL-Gym Bereich; kostenlos für Hotelgäste. Öffnungszeiten: Hallenbad/Sauna 06 - 23 Uhr; Gym 24 Std.. Frühstücksbuffet 06.30-10.30, RMB 198 inkl. Servicegebühr; grosse Auswahl, insbesondere auch an chin. Gerichten. Kaffeeauswahl an Selbstbedienungsautomat und jede Tasse wird frisch gebraut. Steckdose = EU kompatibel.||||Bad: Lässt sich mit Schiebetüren komplett abschliessen, was auf dem Hotelfoto nicht erkennbar ist! Sehr geräumig, mit Marmor ausgekleidet. Badewanne mit separatem Duscheschlauch. Grosse Dusche-Glaskabine mit Duscheschlauch + Deckenbrause, mit fester Sitzgelegenheit. Föhn und grosse Auswahl an Toiletten-Accessories. Gesichtstücher. Ganzkörper- und beleuchteter Schminkspiegel. Schemel für Kleinkinder.||||Negativ: Unglaublich (!!!!!), eines nachts stand plötzlich ein fremder Hotelgast im Zimmer; offensichtlich hat ihm das Rezeptionspersonal seine Zimmerkarte falsch programmiert. Keine Entschuldigung durch Hotelpersonal! Auch die persönliche Zimmerkarte funktionierte ab dem zweiten Tag nicht mehr wie auch die nachfolgende Ersatzkarte ...... Personal spricht kaum bis gar nicht Englisch; äusserst mühsam und nicht zuletzt auch ein Sicherheitsfaktor! Beispiele wie Telefonzentrale spricht mit Gast nur Chinesisch, und versteht daher auch nicht den Wunsch um eine Verbindung mit "Front Desk/Reception". Zwingt dadurch den Gast persönlich an der Rezeption vorzusprechen oder, muss fehlender Frotteewechsel persönlich an der Rezeption melden - da das Housekeeping kein Englisch versteht. Doch auch die Rezeptionistin versteht trotz pantomimischer Nachhilfe das Problem nicht....schlussendlich konnte der Concierge erst nach umständlicher Erklärung weiterhelfen. Fremdwährungswechsel nur an "Exchange"-Automat möglich. Hotel führt keine Briefmarken (entgegen Hinweis in Info-Borschüre!). Frühstücksbuffet Original-Honigwabe auffällig platziert, tropft jedoch nur im Minutentakt und ist somit nur Frust als Nutzen für den Gast; generell etwas nachlässig im Nachfüllen, kein Nature-Joghurt. Im Zimmer schmutziges Bar-Glas nicht ausgewechselt; Kühlschrank abgeschlossen + fehlendes Schreibmaterial nicht komplettiert. Im Bad keine Wäscheleine und Toilettenbürste, am zweiten Tag schmutzige Frotteetücher entfernt aber nicht ersetzt, Fussboden nicht gereinigt. Fehlender Kaffee + Tee im Zimmer nicht komplettiert. Hotel-Info-Roboter in der Lobby defekt. We have recently stayed 3 nights at Marriott Hotel Kangqiao. We have impressed with the facility and service of the hotel, and enjoyed our stay at the facility. |The Marriott Hotel Kangqiao is located about 1km from subway Kangqiao station, which is co-located with the new Costco store at shanghai pudong. To reach the subway Kangqiao station, you may need to take bus route 1159 for 3 stops. |Though the location of Marriott Hotel Kangqiao is less than ideal, I was impressed by the service and the top-notch facility. I arrived at the hotel ahead of schedule at around 8am, and got checked-in. The early check-in is very much appreciated, especially for guests arriving from airport. As a Bonvoy Titanium elite, I had access to the executive lounge. The lounge provides a light dinner from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, and provides desert and fruit from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. The breakfast is complimentary for Bonvoy Platinum elite and up, and it is a nice spread offering a noddle/wonton station, an omelet station (also offering fried eggs, boiled eggs), a Chinese fried pancake station (next to pancake and waffle station), various breakfast offerings (sausages, bacons, etc..), a congee station, and a soft tofu station.
