I stayed here in early April before a flight to Hong Kong. I had worked and travelled all day to get to Shanghai and I wanted to stay at a Marriott, as I am always treated well and they have very comfortable amenities.||||Check-in took forever. I don’t mind waiting if it was busy but there was no acknowledgement of guests waiting in line, there were guests jumping from line to line without waiting, it was unorganized. After a while, I had my chance to check in and it was relatively smooth, although no one seemed to understand anything I said, even though this is the hotel closest to the international airport. It was alright through, I communicated in Chinese fine.||||The room was great and tidy, very comfy with all amenities. When I messaged via the app for an HDMI cable, it came promptly, no problems. Housekeeping has excellent service.||||My main problem was with room service. After a long day of traveling, I wanted to relax in the room, have a warm dinner, and drink wine. I called room service, to which I was told, “we’ll call you back.” Half an hour later, no call back. So I went down to the front desk with my order. Of course, hectic lines and disorganization greeted me again. After waiting for my turn, I had to give my order and explain the situation 3 different times to be understood. After that, I decide I’ll go back to my room, wait for the food, it should come soon, right? Wrong. 2 MORE confirmations of what I ordered (a sandwich set, wine, and dessert), as well as a 20 minute wait to be told that what I ordered wasn’t available( the wine, they offered to substitute it for a glass of sparkling), and then another hour long wait for food.||||When the food arrived, super late, it was cold, and although I wasn’t charged for the wine, and they included another half glass of sparkling wine, all that hassle for a cold dinner was not worth it. I understand that they were busy (I don’t mind waiting if it is communicated) but having that much hassle over placing an order only for the food to arrive cold and subpar to Marriott standards.||||When looking for hotels near the airport, I’ll choose...
