Shanghai New Century Manju Hotel Luoshan — Hotel in Shanghai

We stayed in this hotel since it was one of the hotels recommended by the travel agent which is appointed by CPhI China's event organiser. ||The room is okay. However, the service is VERY disappointing. No one, and I repeat NO ONE is able to speak English, not even basic English.||When we arrived, our room wasn't ready since they think we were arriving on the day after (a strong proof of a bad administration indeed!) Hence, a very long wait and a frustrating one too as we have no idea of what's going on and they were unable to explain it to us. ||On the first morning, we were not allowed to have our breakfast because she said only 2 people are allowed. We explained to her that we have paid for the extra bed and extra breakfast since there are 3 of us. Finally, she let us in but only because we were getting upset and had raised our voices a bit. Moreover, no actions were done when they were out of forks and spoons (not everyone can eat with just chopsticks and knives right??), and they did nothing when they ran out of some dishes. ||We also tried the hotel's restaurant and the service is very slow. Again, no staff members is able to speak English. After we paid for our dinner that night, we had to experience another frustrating moment. They didn't give us the original receipt, a copy instead. It took us at least 15 mins to resolve this and we had to ask another guest who is able to speak English to explain the situation.||The bottom line is if you can't speak Chinese, don't even bother to look at this hotel. Where to start , first of all beside they mentioned hotel @ SNIEC it's quite far by walk , nearly nobody speak English in this hotel , at the reception also only one guy did his best but it's time for this hotel to decide if they want foreign customers or not , for Chinese its perfect for sure.room is quite big but noisy if you are located next to the highway as window is not sound proof , internet works ok but don't expect any of the usual web site such as Facebook , YouTube , Netflix as all are blocked in this country , using a VPN helps , the TV doesn't offer any channel in English as it is quite far from every thing no restaurants around I have tried the first night the hotel restaurant , , nobody speak English , food was nothing special , I had the breakfast included , terrible breakfast if you are not local as they only offer Chinese food . I usually don't like to bring down a place but this is a big joke I am used to challenging countries around the world but this one is the worse. Cherry on the cake , they call you during the night to offer massage , wonder how those "ladies" knows I was alone in my room , probably the reception got commission .. don't expect any help from staff for taxi or any information. I stayed in this hotel for one week in the beginning of November this year. While the rooms are good ad the staff is quite friedly, hotel is located at a secluded place with no live happenings nearby. Hotel can organise taxi but cannot guranteeg the same. In the case of any exigency hotel does have a conveyance even to drop at the nearest metro station which is more than 2.5 kms away. On one bad day we had to walk in rain up to the metro station. Hotel has dining facility for breakfast only. However they can organise meals in the room. In addition they do not have money changing facility also.
