We stayed at the Paradise Hotel as part of a small group tour and this was the best of the 6 similarly rated hotels at which we stayed around China. Unlike the norm, the bed was soft and comfortable. The room was well above average in size and cleanliness, with the exception of some poorly repaired damage to one of the walls. The facilities included some "3-in-1" instant coffee, which is rare in China.|The bathroom was excellent with quality (Kohler) fittings, a multi-head shower and separate bath with its own shower and very good lighting. |We had breakfast included and for a hotel of this standard the buffet was above average, though at peak times staff struggled to replenish some items and others ran out towards the end of the opening time. |Not all the staff speak English, so we had to wait a while until an appropriate member could attend to us, but they were generally polite and took care of messages from tour guides and storing our luggage efficiently. |The location is right next to a Metro station, so the CBD areas are around 25-35 minutes away. We had no issues getting a taxi back to this hotel from the French Quarter after the Metro system had closed down for the night.. |While we were there, the road outside was under reconstruction, but the double glazed windows in the room we had kept most of the noise out and we found this hotel much quieter for sleep than centrally located ones. |In spite of the regulations, the bar area was quite smoky. Matches are provided in the rooms and we did not see any sign of non-smoking rooms on our floor (9), so would suggest making specific requests if this is required. |Our room did not suffer from the smell of...
Read moreWe had a very good experience with this hotel in Shanghai.||||Well located, if you are using the metro to get around and the neighbourhood is very safe.||||The hotel have a good size window in the rooms and I was a bit worried about the noise. Luckily, I couldn't hear a thing later on, as it's all very well made with good insulation. Also, the curtains are thick and dark enough to avoid brightness early morning.||||The room size was good with many places to leave your personal belongings.||||The bed was very comfortable with decent size and pillows. The bedding sheets were all very clean.||||The room is very well cleaned and hoovered.||||The shower got good pressure. All towels were very clean and changed everyday.||||The staff is very polite, fast (check in/out).||||The Wi-Fi signal was very weak and many sites like Facebook and Google maps were blocked.||||Breakfast was very good, totally worth...
Read moreI stayed here while attending a conference in Shanghai,The plus points were the large clean room with a very comfortable bed and the closeness to a metro station. The hotel supplied bottled water and electrical adaptors at no extra charge. The down sides were that there was some noise from outside, the mini bar in my room was empty, and the staff had minimal competence in English so communication was very difficult. The staff were also not particularly friendly or helpful. The wifi worked ok in my room on the top floor but friends in other rooms found that it worked only intermittently. This hotel would have been ok for a few nights but the communication problems and distance from the centre (the metro does not run very late) mean that I would probably not return here for a...
