The location of this hotel is good as it is within the valley scenic area. the room that we booked was nice and clean with a good view. It was also near the food street and the main activity area. The valley was quite scenic (esp.night time when the whole vallley is lighted up), and the experience in the valley was good with many food stalls and cultural performances. The buffet breakfast spread was very good. Note that there is no laundry service. However, the hotel service needs improvement. When we arrived, the taxi was not allowed to drive to the hobby lobby, and we need to drag our luggage to the hotel reception from the entrance of the scenic area although it's not a long distance. My room was quite far from the hotel reception (10 min walk with many steps) , there was a hotel staff to guide us there. He was kind enough to help my wife with her luggage, but I can see that it was not a default service for them to help with the luggage as it was not mentioned by the reception to call them to help when checking out. The reception did not offer us the map of the whole vallley and make recommendations of what to do. We were a bit lost after we checked in to the room and had to walk up to the reception to get the map. Check out time was 12pm. But after breakfast, we came back to the room and found that we couldn't access the room with our card. We called the front desk, and they couldn't unlock it via the system and had to get a staf member to come to our room. Good thing that I bought the local SIM card and am able to call the front desk . If not, I will have to walk up to the reception to get this sorted out, and I had a train to catch! After checking out, I requested reception to call a taxi for us. To our surprise , she replied that they don't do that for guests. She asked us to call the car hailing service ourselves even after i told her we are not local and not familiar with the didi app. After repeated requests, she eventually helped us call a car. I'm not sure why she didn't offer assistance from the beginning. The experience would be better if the hotel could look into improving the areas that i ...
Read moreWe don’t even know where to begin-every moment from our arrival to our departure exceeded our expectations, both in terms of service and facilities. We’ve been traveling the world for the past six years, and China is our 60th country. Experiencing something so magical here has left us with memories we will truly cherish and never forget. Before our arrival and throughout our stay, Xiao Wang guided and assisted us with the utmost professionalism and kindness. She made everything easier, especially considering this was only our second destination in China and we were still unfamiliar with the local apps, language, and general customs. She helped organize our transfers, booked a photo session for us, and patiently answered all of our questions. The property itself is absolutely stunning-staying here feels like stepping into a magical legend where history embraces you at every turn. The grounds are beautifully spread across the valley, and moving from the reception area to our room became a little adventure of its own, with charming uphill and downhill paths.Breakfast was abundant and satisfying, and what we appreciated the most was how traditional it was (though there were options for all tastes). We personally enjoyed diving into the local cuisine -it was absolutely delicious!Another highlight of our stay was the traditional Miao clothing photo session. The staff at the costume area treated us with such warmth and care, dressing us in the most beautiful outfits and accessories. The photographer took truly stunning and professional photos -it was incredibly hard to choose which ones to keep because we loved them all! This is an experience we wholeheartedly recommend...
Read moreFor the ultimate experience, staying in Wangxiangu scenic area itself is highly recommended, but prices here are not cheap. There are a few caveats: you need to be able to walk .. Walk. . and WALK some more! The check in was in a different site from the scenic area (@ homestay centre). It was really posh looking despite the "homestay feel". Check in is around 5 pm, but expect a room sometime in the afternoon at the earliest. It was surprisingly busy. The homestay centre is on top of the cliff (and where breakfast is located), admission is included with the room price, so its a good long walk down to the valley to where the photo spots are (except White Crane cliff). I stayed in Cui Wei (Fairy homestay) which is located closer to the valley - 2/3 of the way down - and therefore a walk up for breakfast!. However, if you want a Cliffside stay be prepared to walk down (and Up!)- but breakfast is closer. Porters can help with luggage. The rooms are large, cosy. As our room was close to the valley floor, there would be more foot traffic and more noise. The bathroom floor was wet when we checked in, - we suspect drains were slow (no leak was found). The fuse popped once during our visit but electricity was restored quickly. Breakfast was quite a generous spread with Western and Chinese choices. Staff were helpful and friendly. There was a lost in confusion moment when we asked the porter to bring our luggage up during our breakfast and we were kept waiting for it at check out.. no one told us it was already in storage so we wasted about 30 mins waiting for something that was already delivered. For English speakers Wechat app with translation is the best way to...
