No heating in the restaurant, despite local temperatures of 4-5 degrees C. The lobby and restaurant were supposed to be non-smoking areas, but many local chinese people were smoking there, and the staff did nothing to stop them leaving the lobby and retaurant area with a constant smell of cigarette smoke.
Room: The hotel is adjacent to the "SOS bar", resulting in loud music and shouting until 2-3am. Noticed that the window in the room was open, which was why the noise appeared to be so loud. However, the hotel has removed the window handles so you cant close the windows properly !!!! Asked the manager about this, he said I should call room service and ask them to close the window, and then they will take the handle away again !!! WHY ???
On the last day of the stay the toliet leaked, dirty water flooded the bathroom floor. Nice ! Called housekeeping to notify them, but a Chinese girl who can't speak answered the call. Seems she didn't want the hassle of trying to communicate with a western guy and hung up the call on me.
Restaurant: My colleague and I waited an hour for 2 pizzas. When they finally arrivied, they weren't what we ordered. Couldn't help but notice that the people at the table next to us had a similar problem.
Reservation: We requested exec rooms so that we could make good use of the lounge for working. When we checked in we were told that the lounge was closed #no notification of this when we booked the room# but they still charged us the full exec room price. I explained they should not charge full price if they don't offer the full service, but they refused to do anything about it.
Other issues to report that I haven't experienced at other hotels - but I think you get the idea. This hotel should not be part of...
Read moreWe ( 3 pax) stayed at Holiday inn Shaoxing China for 2nights end of feb 2014. When we checked in, the receptionist was not friendly & helpful, and couldnt converse in english well.
When we got into our room, the extra bed was not made up, just the matress with no bedsheets, pillows, blankets and the carpet was soiled with some food left overs ( french fries??)
We called housekeeping and they came a while later, but still missing toiletries for the 3rd pax in our room.
When we ordered room service, it took very long , considering the hotel was quite empty , and they forgot cutleries for us. We were supposed to eat noodles with our hands?
Rather disappointing as this is Holiday inn...There supposed to be a business centre on 3rd floor, but it moved to ground floor. Perhaps they need to change their signage and etc.
One good thing, the staffs were pleasantly surprised when we tipped them. So that feeling was great! The F&B team for breakfast were helpful and initiative. Perhaps too initiative, they ask to clear our plates before we even got out of our seats for more food.
Over all, We expect average & above for such chain hotels and this happened to be a...
Read moreI've stayed in this hotel 4 times over the past year for business. I should say, starting with positives, that it's generally a clean and comfortable place which is in a very good location for restaurants, shopping etc. It generally has a pretty good breakfast too.||||However, my most recent trip was absolutely ruined by the hotel's attitude to smoking. Despite both the law and the hotel policy (there are NO SMOKING signs everywhere), many guests smoke in public areas. My colleagues and I tried to have a business meeting in the lobby area. However, it was so full of smoke we were unable to stay. We complained to the duty manager who basically ignored our concerns.||||Even more surprisingly, on several days I was unable to use the fitness centre because there were other guests smoking in the gym! I'm not sure why they would consider that unacceptable, but (more importantly) the hotel did nothing to stop this antisocial behaviour. ||||Overall, although I'm aware that there are different attitudes to smoking in different countries, I believe it's totally unacceptable that a hotel in the Holiday Inn group should tolerate such unhygienic behaviour in...
