The penultimate stop on a business trip from Shanghai to Hong Kong (by train), saw me arriving here for seven nights. I picked this hotel for location for meetings in and out of the hotel, service levels expected from a Bonvoy CYM. The hotel is less than 10 minutes from Shenzhen Int'l airport, and about an hour (taxi) from Shenzhen North railway station.||It is located in a fairly vibrant part of Shenzhen, with loads of shops, cafes, restaurants very close, and a four floor shopping mall bordering the hotel, so less than 50 yards to the right as you come out of the hotel.||Check in was easy and quick, and there are 10 floors to the hotel.||The main restaurants is on the first floor, where breakfast and dinner is served. Breakfast is 6.30 - 10.30 and about half hour later (open/close) at the weekend.|Breakfast options are wide and a lot of choice. From cereals to egg, bacon, beans etc. toast, pastries, pizza, fruit, yogurt, as well as Chinese breakfast options (noodles, vegetables), there is something for everyone. Even lighter bites such as rolls and cold meats if you don't want anything too heavy. Wide variety of juices, tea (Dimah - good quality) and coffee (no comment) to drink.||During the morning and throughout the guest areas of the hotel (lobby, restaurant) the background music is typical new age jazz fusion. If 3rd Force, Fourplay, Acoustic Alchemy, Russ Freeman & The Rippingtons (if you know and like, you will know the artists) are for you, this is the music played in the background. It certainly favoured my tastes, and only wish I spent longer in the lobby areas rather than out on business.||The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Other days there is a buffet to offer and plenty of choice. There is a large sea food section with tuna, octopus and snails, cockles, prawns etc. If you want Chinese cuisine over 50% of the buffet is tailored this way. There is pizza, nuggets, chips for adults and kids, and a wide selection of fruit and desserts. For 190 RMB (£20) which includes drinks (wine, beer, sodas too) the value for money is very good. Staying at the hotel mid-July, it was very busy with families, and lots of Chinese families with children, so noise levels and some mis-behaving kids will need to be tolerated. If kids and noise is not your thing, eat early, slightly later or go when they are back at school. You will find people will occupy a table for the evening, given it's all you can eat for 190 RMB.||Depending on your Bonvoy status or room booked, the executive lounge on the 10th floor is open from 9.00 am - 9.30 pm. It's quiet during the day and gets busy during the week between 5.30 pm - 7.30 pm when a selection of light bites are put out, along with wine and beer. Throughout the day a small fridge with soft drinks is available, with hot drinks on tap too. There is no buffet selection at the weekend, and guests to the lounge need to be respectful of others when taking calls or meetings.||The room (mine was 9th floor) was spacious, a/c fairly good. Nice bathroom and good flow of water from the overhead (walk in) shower. Plenty of bottled water and mini fridge too. Drinks in fridge are charged to the room and based on honesty policy completing the form on the counter.||Bed and pillows were comfortable, and the TV had a few English channels, some with movies, (AXN, HBO). A work station with chair and light was fine. Overall the room was nice, clean and perfectly functional. Noise from other guests in the corridor or next door sometimes a bit loud, and the reception could do more to ask guests to respect others after 9 pm for example.||A minor issue with laundry not back when intended. Fairly quickly resolved albeit minor language issues trying to ask questions they are not normally used to hearing.|Being so close to HK, I expected better English spoken, overall not too bad though.||Check out was quick and easy with an e-invoice and paper copy provided.||I would certainly stay here again for the following reasons:||1. Location - to shops, walking, airport if needed|2. Music and ambiance|3. Value for money - more so with the buffet in the evening (190 RMB)|4. Bed and pillows were comfortable, normally it's one or the other, never both||What it lacks:||1. Pool|2. Better stocked and equipped Executive Lounge - poorest I've been in.|3. More English spoken and understood.||The positives for the hotel certainly make up for the negatives and would not deter me from staying...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at your hotel, and I must say that the overall experience exceeded my expectations in terms of cleanliness, comfort, aesthetics, and culinary delights. Your attention to detail and hospitality truly stood out during my visit. However, I feel compelled to bring to your attention a matter that significantly impacted my stay - the restriction on accessing international websites and Google services through the hotel's internet connection. While I understand that this issue may extend beyond the hotel's control, it posed a considerable inconvenience for a traveler like myself who relies heavily on tools such as Google Earth, Google Maps, and Google Translate for both work and navigation purposes.Regrettably, the inability to access these essential online resources hindered my productivity during the trip. Despite attempts to utilize local alternatives provided by the hotel's WIFI, I encountered challenges such as intrusive advertisements and language barriers, particularly with menus in Chinese. As a business traveler, time is of the essence, and adapting to unfamiliar software and applications proved to be a significant hurdle.I kindly request that you consider addressing this internet restriction issue to enhance the overall experience for future guests who rely on seamless access to online tools. Your attention to this matter would undoubtedly contribute to the continued satisfaction of guests who value efficient and reliable internet connectivity during their stay.Thank you for your attention to this feedback. I look forward to the possibility of returning to your esteemed establishment in the future.Warm regards,...
Read moreI was in town for business and this hotel was such a surprise. The quality was superb and the service was impeccable. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the hotel amenities are superior. The gym is well equipped and extremely clean (they even have free laundry machines just off the gym). The locker rooms are amazing and have large saunas. It feels like a fabulous resort. I highly recommend the Executive Lounge. The area itself is perfect for getting work done and feels like a sanctuary in such a busy city. The food and drinks were excellent and the staff was beyond helpful. I ate dinner in the lounge as well as the restaurant and there were plenty of delicious options (even as a vegetarian). There is a mall across the street, so if you forget to pack anything, everything you'd need is there. Anywhere else, this hotel would be at least twice the price. Well...
