Holiday INN EXP Jiuzhaigou — Hotel in Sichuan

We booked 2 nights for a ‘mountain view room’ from 6-8 November. The check in process was quite fast but they did not confirm which type of room we were staying in. The first night we had arrived around 9pm, after travelling 7 hours and went to bed as we were tired. We did not check the view as it was dark but in the morning we realised we did not have the correct room.

We went to front desk to seek compensation as we had paid extra to have that particular room. Onsite manager initially offered fruit as compensation, and then some soft drinks to ‘resolve’ our incorrect room. We did not take this compensation, as fruit and drinks are frankly basic items we can easily purchase.

Upon back and forth discussion whilst we were out touring JiuZhaiGou, they were able to move our belongings to the correct room for the second night and finally offered RMB¥100 towards 9pm on the second night to compensate for the first night’s room. We did not accept this given it took them to almost 9pm on our second night to offer monetary compensation and also took up our time for the day to discuss with them what resolution they could provide. It seems that their onsite manager is unexperienced.

Otherwise, the rooms were satisfactory and the breakfast buffet was simple...

The hotel is very good as it offers an accessible location to the Jiuzhaigou entrance, no taxi or shuttle is necessary. The rooms however, may not be welcoming to foreign tourists. The hotel allows smoking on the floors, so the smell can be unwelcoming to families. The laundry room also had a very bad smell and mosquitoes were flying around. Although the breakfast is complimentary, the food is not of the best quality and not similar to other western-branded hotels. Food was spoiled and not very tasty. The service was also fine, not very personal. The rooms, however, were clean. We had issues with the windows not closing and the floors and very thin, so you can hear people stomping above. The bathrooms are also very small and the shower pressure was not very good. Most likely will not stay here again, however, the location and price point...

This hotel has hands down the best location! It is the international hotel chain that's closest to the Jiuzhaigou entrance - a mere 10 minutes walk away! While everyone else has to arrange private cars/buses and fight for taxis to get to the Jiuzhaigou entrance and leave Jiuzhaigou, we could just take a leisurely walk. Also special shoutout to Klein 张龙 from the front-desk who arranged our private car transport from Huanglong Jiuzhai train station to the hotel and back. He constantly followed up on whether the car has picked us up, where are we, whether the driver is there, even went as far as letting us know of the weather forecast in advance and advice on what to pack. His arrangements made our Jiuzhaigou trip super smooth and easy! Definitely staying here again when we come back to...
