Crowne Plaza Kunshan — Hotel in Suzhou City

I was underwhelmed by the Crowne Plaza. I stayed for work, but it was my birthday while I was there. I asked if they wanted to upgrade my room because it was my birthday, but they feigned that they didn't understand (I did use English). The room was OK, but the carpet was definitely not clean. It was quite warm while I was there but the air conditioner was not on as the room temperature never changed. I used the swimming pool one day. Although it looks super cool in the pictures with a big glass infinity corner, it was very much leaking. Inside the pool the tiles were falling off the edges - there was even a sign acknowledging this. On my birthday I went up for a massage. I had to go into the back to find a lady and she made like I was bothering her phone time. Then she was on the phone while giving me a massage. The massage itself was pretty much the lamest massage I have ever had in my whole life. She barely massaged my skin much less my muscles. Also, the lights were on full bright and there was no much, just the sounds coming from the weight room that was around the corner. The whole experience left me wishing I had just stayed in my room. I do understand that the massage place, although in the hotel, was not related...

I am IHG Spire Elite member. My wife and I had an excellent weekend at the hotel. The hotel is right adjacent to a mall and is 30 minutes walk to a lovely park. Our suite bedroom on the 20th floor has a spectacular view of sunset. There was more complimentary bottled water in the room compared to others we had stayed. It was great as we didn’t have to ask for more. Thanks to Vivian Chen for the arrangement of the room.||On check-in, we were warmly greeted by Ivan Er, the FOM. He spoke excellent English and exceptionally friendly.||The superstar for us was Eva Liu at the executive club. She went above and beyond to offer us generous amount of their “home-baked” cookies. The chocolate cookies were delicious - simply the best!||When happy hour began, we were amazingly impressed by the vast selection of hot food, desserts, salads , soups , seasonal hairy crabs and hard liquors. The red and white wines were superb. ||Bouboo and Rose at breakfast were very passionate. Our needs met with their excellent service. Coffee was good especially we are coffee drinkers.||We couldn’t help but recommended to our friends who later joined us the next day. They too were impressed. ||We look forward to returning soon and will strongly...

This property might have a great future and I am looking forward to come back.

However, like me, other Elite Plus members might find this property disappointing in its current status and therefore I cannot recommend it straight away without a few additional notes as below.

If you are going to use it for overnight accommodation only, then this property is ok. Go for it.

Alternatively, note that the Executive Club lounge is not available yet, as well as Swimming Pool, gym and bar.

Breakfast is not buffet yet, rather a la carte. Allow plenty of time and do not go in rush otherwise you will be disappointed and frustrated. The food and its presentation are good.

One more note, AMEX is not accepted yet. Have VISA or Mastercard (or a Chinese card) available to guarantee and pay for the services.

Two more negative points:

1)internet It is not connected to Hong Kong, so make sure to have VPN available (at the nearby Lamborghini you do not need VPN)

2. TV channel list does not include CNN. It is reported among the available channels but the reality is that you will not find it there.

Hopefully both points will be fixed in the future (though we can survive...
