Stayed at Days Frontier Xiangcheng, District, Suzhou with tour group for one night.||On a positive first impression, being a relatively new hotel, with apparent above standard design features and, western style/influence in decor and fixtures, everything appeared to be looking towards a pleasant stay.||||First impression of our room again positive but then we found many annoying glitches in the actual finish and functionality.||||The first fault found was that the entrance to the bathroom was only approximately 55cm wide. My shoulders touched as I entered the bathroom, then the exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work. A venetian blind screen was installed, on the inside, of the shower recess, being a vanity screen for those that don’t like the window view into bathroom from the bedroom, that is far too common in Chinese hotel bathrooms, for whatever senseless or perverted reason they include this “feature”. Problem being the blind is installed within the shower recess and I imagine within a short period of time, it will be covered with soap scrum and would be a nightmare to clean. If such a screen is to be installed, best it be installed on the exterior. Then the shower door rail was not secured i.e. very loose so I tighten it myself so it would fall off when used. A shower screen repair still had the product id sticker attached and with a poor silicone sealing job.||||Then desk light had an unusual female round plug (not either of the normal Chinese plugs) so the light could not be used (nor was there a matching power outlet anyway where in the room.) Then the room floor lamp had no accessible power point but curiously enough one was found (labelled “Floor Lamp Socket”)on opposite side of room, at the work desk.|||| Repairs to mini bar area enclosure were not cleaned. The enclosed bar fridge had little or no ventilation and appeared to be overheating (nothing would not cool) although some holes in the skirt below the enclosure, whilst no ventilation was on the front bar fridge cabinet, where it was needed. And finally, common problems in Chinses hotels, the air conditioning manual control had no effect i.e. overly warm setting could not be over ridden, so a window had to be opened, then nail clippings were noticed on the floor.||||Free Wi-Fi worked well.||||The breakfast area was very modern, with a pleasant outlook (I think it was on the 4th floor). Choice of food was basically for the Chinese palate but you could find something to eat even if just eggs and coffee.||||Despite some negatives, due to poor construction and general maintenance standards, being a new hotel, with a western style/influence in decor and fixtures, this hotel would have been the best hotel of 6 hotels visited on tour and with a little attention to detail by management, I’m sure that this hotel could rise and maintain a genuine 4...
Read moreDay hotel is located at No.4555 Renmin Road, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou, Jiangsu.I was attending an event in the area. The hotel was clean and spacious just like the pictures. They serve a Chinese breakfast , not a lot of options. They prepped a bowl of fruits and a hand written note as a “welcome gift”, which was thoughtful. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful one of them spoke English and assisted me with my delivery (there was a mixup with my order , she called and had it corrected ). I enjoyed my room, the bed was so comfortable, I had a bathtub and loved the amount of brightness in the room from natural light. Lastly the price point...
Read moreThis is not the motel-like Days Inn; it's very well appointed and the room is quite large and furnished with relatively high end materials. Very comfortable and reasonably priced. Although the location is regarded to be "far" from the old city, it is really just a 10 minute car ride away from most attractions because the city itself is not that large and traffic is definitely not bad, even during the rush hour. ||||The hotel itself sits on top of a major shopping mall with numerous stores and restaurants. Definitely try one of the restaurants in the mall. The food is fresh, well prepared and very tasty. ||||Highly...
