My husband and I have stayed at this hotel many times since the inception of the hotel. After more than 4 years of COVID-19 pandemic, we came back to this hotel. This time, however, we have been very disappointed - the management of this hotel has gone downhill. We checked in two days ago (April 13th). It was crowded at the check in. There was no longer a designated check-in line for Marriott Bonvoy members. That was okay for us. What was not acceptable was that our room temperature was 26.5 degrees (C)/79.7 degrees (F) and the air conditioning (AC) was not working. My husband called the front desk to ask for someone addressing the issue. The front dest person told him the AC was broken and it was unclear when the broken AC could be fixed. We slept that night sweating a lot. The next day, we went to the front dest to ask for solution of the problem. We were offered to move to a different and bigger room. However, 2 rooms that hotel associates showed us had the same issue - the AC was not working. We stressed that we appreciated the gesture, but we wanted a room with a working AC and comfortable temperature. During our communications with sever hotel staff members, including managers, the stories changed. One told us the hotel would not turn on AC due to unstable temperatures recently, while others told us the AC was broken and would be fixed in a few days. The weather forecast predicted to be 28 degrees (C)/82.4 degrees (F). After several rounds of discussion with hotel managers, we were offered a room in the residential/condo section of the property, where seemed to be more comfortable in terms of temperature. In addition to the broken AC, there were multiple issues in the swimming pool area. For example, men's steam room was broken; there was no towels in women's locker room, etc. My overall impression is that the management of this hotel has gone downhill. It is no longer a 5-star hotel in my view. We originally planned to stay at this hotel for 12 nights. We may need to move elsewhere for the rest of our stay and in the future. I would not recommend this hotel for the price. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 or 0 star is because I want to acknowledge the hotel staff members were...
Read moreAs I was approaching the hotel from the main road, my heart sank a bit because from the facade it looked very dated and my feelings were served right throughout my stay.||Stepping into the main lobby, I can feel that the hotel indeed has its better days which was confirmed by my local colleague who said this is perhaps the first 5 stars hotel in the city. Check in was a breeze and I was given an upgrade to junior suite due to my membership status. Room is very large but the set up is old. Typical wood furnishing in the room with lots of space, what I don’t like is that the wardrobe is right at the entrance with little space for my luggage.||Breakfast in my view is passable considering this is a grand hotel and there is no change of choices in the 2 nights I was there. Service throughout is attentive.||As I always make it an effort to swim, I checked out the swimming pool which is indoor that is to me the best part of the stay but the walk from the changing room to taking an elevator to the pool can be challenging in cold weather. ||Overall a pleasant stay but I have seen better Renaissance but this is not the...

I preferred this hotel based on feedback from my colleagues..|To begin with key highlights, the Front Desk staff understands and speaks English well and that’s a plus for me considering China who doesn’t have English as part of their curriculum at school..|I had selected king double bed with view of the front street. Room was big and spacious with a mini sofa and work desk.. The king size bed was comfortable for a good sleep. Bathroom had enough toiletries but you may ask for toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kit incase required.|They have a restaurant to serve the guests and a bar area open until about 1:30 am..|There are ample food options at the restaurant if you are a meat eater however it can be a bit challenging if you’re a strict vegan..||The only issue is that they have a variable day rate and can be different even when you but for a long stay..Make sure to be clear on the hotel rate while you book online. |Overall a pleasant experience and special thanks to front desk team and Ms Odelia for helping me out with...
