Service:||This hotel was a disappointment for weary traveler, having already been to Beijing, Guangzhou and Xiamen by this time. To put the service into context we inquired if the they hotel had any no-smoking rooms. We were told that none of the rooms are non-smoking but that hotel would perform a "room treatment" to remove the small and taint of smoke. My colleague was intrigued to know what that entailed and it transpired that it consisted of removal of the ash tray from the room! Suffice to say we could not help having a chortle at this and the staff actually didn't end up performing the "room treatment" anyway. ||||Checkout took an absolute age!||||Room:||The room was dismal, and looked like it was about 15 years old. There were mosquitoes and the room stank of smoke. The bathroom was pokey and although it appeared to be reasonably clean it was had mildew in the shower. ||The furniture had obviously taken a bashing over the years and the door to the room did not shut tight and rattled with the ineffectual but noisy "air conditioning". I was glad I had saved my ear plugs from my initial flight to China. I was also grateful for the foresight of my wife to provide me with a industrial strength insecticide plugin.||||Food provision||Food is served in a KTV Karaoke bar next door to the hotel, which also provides a BBQ in the evening. The cooked a nice BBQ using chicken. lamb beef or if you fancied it: Cicada's. Breakfsat was also served at this venue: i would give it 4/10 but I was tired and hungry and ate what there was.||||I did ask for an iron to do my suit and I was promptly provided with an iron. It had been designed by a sadist and consisted of a charging base which heated the iron and an iron that would not safely stand up its own. ||||Would I stay here again, given the choice: NO. There is a building just down the road with giant golden lions outside, which consists of apartments surrounding a central swimming pool. Some of our counterparts stayed there and said it...
Read moreWe stayed here for six nights as part of a business trip, paid for by the company who has a new office in the industrial park. This is not a place for tourists; about 2 hours by car from Beijing and 45-60 minutes from Tianjin. There is nowhere to go nearby. The hotel is not yet finished; the sign in the elevator says there is a cake store and flower shop but they haven't been built yet.||||The rooms were attractively decorated. They had a large comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and a bottom sheet with a covered quilt. There was a desk with office chair and light and wired internet connection, easy chair with a side table and floor lamp, reading lamps over the bed, table with flat screen TV, refrigerator, and cabinet with three shelves. The closet had a safe which we did not use; our friends said their safe did not work. The bathroom was small but had plenty of amenities. There were some loose tiles in the bathroom and the carpet was a little dirty but not too bad.||||Good: comfortable beds, rooms cleaned daily, nice amenities, quiet, large attractive lobby, internet usually reliable (except one overnight problem).||||Bad: breakfast buffet - not refilled, not much for western visitors (orange juice only one day, coffee not fresh, toaster only toasted one side of bread). Power - needed key to keep electricity on in room so couldn't keep anything cold in refrigerator while away. Communication - very few staff spoke English. No wifi. Non-smoking (the elevator called it non-smocking) floor still smelled of smoke. No dresser in room, just cabinet with three shelves and closet with top shelf. Some light bulbs...
