The whole world is focused on two stories right now, COVID 19 and Black Lives Matter. BLM has made many organizations companies and government look at diversity, inclusiveness and ending discrimination. Tianjin Courtyard however has bucked that trend, they have decided to crank the discrimination up to 11!||I arrived for check-in and was asked to fill in numerous apps and paperwork in the pretense of virus protection. Several of them were in English only so I though this was strange for a hotel in China. I couldn't help but notice that all the other Chinese guest checking in did not have to fill it in. They then demanded to see my "nucleic acid test" results and my "quarantine completion certificate". I pointed out to them that Chinese borders have been closed to foreigners since March so how could I possibly have them? They insisted that I must have them and since I don't they had to call the Police on me and off they went and did that! All the while many Chinese guest, who can enter China, were never asked for any of this. ||||There is loads more to this story and I really cant be bothered writing it but I did get a reply from their customer service team saying this was a "misunderstanding". Asking for a hand towel and getting a face towel is a misunderstanding. Ordering a steak medium rare and getting rare is a misunderstanding. Calling the police because a guest does not have documents anyone of his race could have is not a misunderstanding!||||Don't stay here...
Read moreI was first well-received by the warm hospitality from the concierge and reception staff. They were very friendly and provided clear instructions in both English and Mandarin. The room was spacious, clean and looked new and modern. The bed was comfortable, wide range of TV programmes, excellent toiletries provided. The toilet and showering facilities were great. The breakfast spread consists of a wide range of variety which includes western, oriental and even fusion. Hotel concierge provided excellent places of interest recommendation and helped to get transport at a speedy pace. Check in and out procedures were seamless and efficient. Kudos to the entire team! The hotel is also well located around many shopping malls and places...
Read moreI am a global traveler who is very DTE (I still venture and stay 0-6 stars hotels)...always remembering the toilet attendant’s name who say “hello” to me, and converse with them....||I give this new hotel 5stars. Stefan was super warm and attentive when I checked in at the lobby reception. Executive Lounge supervisor May was very professional and helpful. But I must commend Lila, new staff at Exec Lounge. She was super helpful to provide me tourist info (attractions, point-to-point direction/transportation, etc) without me asking for the details... ||Kudos to the Courtyard by Marriott Tianjin Management team...hope you keep the standard of service...and recognise the efforts and service provided by the wonderful...
