Todays International Hotel — Hotel in Tianjin

Todays international hotel is a pretty good hotel in Tianjin Xingang (Tanggu district). Rooms are good, so is the heating (which you certainly will need – Tianjin freezes in winter and the mercury drops much below zero).||||At 350 RMB per night, including a pretty good continental spread of breakfast for buffet, it is very reasonably priced. There are also eating joints closeby for lunch and dinner (though naturally, you either need to know Chinese for that, or can just point and order!). The restaurant is good, with many dishes which would find favour with non-Chinese people too.||||Rooms are comfortable, washrooms very clean (remember - they charge you extra for the soap etc), Cable tv with about 5 English channels (BBC, CNN, the ubiquitous CCTV), and a few channels in Japanese, German, French, Korean, etc. The hotel caters to international business people mostly, so there is always someone at the reception who can speak English. All rooms have broadband internet and the staff is helpful.||||There is a rather popular park closeby, and often is the location for impromptu music jamming sessions by locals (flute, stringed instruments…). I was lucky that I only stay here late evening to first in the morning. Very bad english but it was to live with. No water in the night on the room and they inform that there was free internet but it doesn't help when it was very slow. ||The food was also very poor and the restaurent was very dirty, but the staff nice and helpfully. Below average hotel with huge language barrier with staff. Rooms are quite old and not so clean. I felt unkindness from restaurant stuff (meaning exclusively for waiters). Kitchen and food are not for Europeans for sure. Hotel for maybe 1 night while in transit and nothing more than...
