Bliss Hotel in Weihai China is a popular 5 star (?) hotel in this city. It is one of the newer hotels with quite a few amenities, most of which I never use in any hotel as I am there to do business and quite busy the majority of the time. The service is quite good and much of the staff speaks at least some English and they always tried to help in any way possible. ||||Comments include: ||Beds were comfortable, not the normal 'hard as a rock" Chinese beds.||Pillows however were stuffed to the point that they were way too firm and woke up every morning with stiff neck and shoulders. ||Room temperature was not easy to control and the only real solution was to turn off the room control and let the room cool naturally. ||A small couch and divider separated the couch area from the bed area. The couch was very hard and almost impossible to get comfortable on. ||Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection, but the Chinese may never learn how to cook "over easy" eggs. ||The exchange rate at the front desk was very reasonable with daily quotes made and that was your exchange rate. Saved a trip to the bank! ||Rooms were clean, but daily cleanup service could have been improved. A Q tip on the floor never moved the entire time I was there. ||I like to have a wash cloth (face cloth) but this was not part of the bathroom items, and smearing liquid soap with your hands doesn't make me feel very clean . ||Towels however were big and soft, but the provided robe was very thin cloth, not the warm and fuzzy terry cloth that I like. ||The in room wifi did not work when I first arrived (very weak), but after informing the desk it was fixed promptly and was fine. ||The location of the hotel is one of the main drawbacks as there is very little close by to walk to. There is a shopping center about a 1/2 mile away that you can walk to, but that's about it. ||Taxi's are easy to get and not expensive, about $3 to $4 to center city, so if you can tell them where you want to go, it works fairly well. ||||In conclusion I believe this is one of the better hotels in Weihai, but as I visit this city several times per year and my hotel of preference for the past several years has closed, I visited several other hotels to assess the possibility of where I may stay on upcoming trips. I may try to stay closer to city center on my next visit as the remoteness of this hotel makes it a little less...
Read moreI have now actually stayed here but I think I simply swapped one average/boring hotel for another !||||It's not bad - it's just OK. Rooms are good & comfortable, buffet breakfast was actually OK (I normally avoid it but here I managed to get an omelette and reasonable coffee). Staff were very helpful even with limited English (and my lack of Chinese). But staff outside (security I think) will shout etc etc very LOUDLY at night, early morning etc and that is very disturbing. They obviously don't care that people are trying to sleep. ||||But it is like a morgue. Bar (if you can call it that) and restaurants close early and there is nothing to do. I got into a taxi and went to the Black Sun bar - at least there was life there.||||Would I stay again ? If I had to I wouldn't worry. But I am now tempted to test out the Qilu Luxury Blue Horizon next to the downtown Wego Plaza. I have now eaten there and it was good. There isn't a lounge etc but at least you can walk to a few places - even the Center hotel opposite if the Havana club is open and not booked...
Read moreHave never stayed, but have eaten several times and did again in October. Good Chinese food no problem (and the Burgers are excellent as well). The hotel (maybe it's just my timing) always seems empty and very quiet. Anyone I have spoken to who has eaten there or stayed says the same. There isn't anything outside worth walking to either. It's a way from 'Downtown' Weihai - although you could take a taxi in about 20-25 minutes. So a bit out on a limb and other, less grand, are much more convenient. It isn't bad at all but just feels a bit of a 'morgue' ! If I had to stay here for whatever reason I would and it wouldn't bother me at all and I understand rooms are very good. But I think for any length of stay I'd be bored. WiFi is very slow but that is normal in most parts of China except the very south in Guangdong. English is spoken, better than previous years, but not as well as other 'mainstream' hotels. That seems a bit picky to be fair as I don't...
