Holiday Inn Express Weihai Hi-Tech Zone — Hotel in Weihai

First of all I have to say I have stayed in all different types of tents, shared rooms with strangers in hostels and all types of hotels, dirty/clean, 5 start/1 start BUT I have to say at this hotel was were I had my total mental breakdown...and it was all thanks to a cockroach like fly bug in my room & being left in the hall way of a deserted floor in the hotel...||Anyway...||Relaxing in bed and this flying cockroach bug came out of nowhere and just stood on the wall above my bed..it was about a inch and a half big and was extremely large - it was safe to say I was not ok about this. I called down to the front desk from my room and they said someone would be up to my room in ten minutes, 40minutes later I decided to go down to the front desk as no one bothered to turn up (I was in my PJ's with a towel around my head 😐).| After 40minutes at the front desk the lady behind it figured out what I was saying (Google translate wasn't much of a help) and gave me another room. I got to the floor of the room, lift door open and it was dark, got out the lift and the door closed and I was in the pitch black, the whole floor was pitch black, I had to use the light on my phone to find my room to which I couldn't open because there was no electricly on the floor! So I had to find my way back to the gift in the dark with only my phone light and keeping my body against every wall so I wouldn't fall over, I felt extremely unsafe. I got back in the lift to go back to the front desk. 30minutes later the lady behind the front desk understood what I was saying and put me back in the lift with a random man and a touch, when we got to the floor the told me to stay where I was..he walked off and I was in the dark alone with this man, it was so dark I could not see anything but black. I did not feel safe. The lights came on and he reappeared. I went to my new room where I did not feel safe as I was on the whole floor on my own and this man new where I was...|So I went back to my old room where the cockroach type bug was because I guessed that would be safer....||First of all I know it's China and I can't expect for the person behind the front desk to speak English but it took about 2hours in the middle of the night to sort of and nothing got sorted, I felt unsafe and stressed out & I couldn't comcumated with the lady...||2nd of all I know there would be bugs but if I'm unhappy with their being bugs in my room then it should be changed with one that is at least has working electricly||3rd of all I felt extremely unsafe after being on the deserted floor on my own and with ramdon guy I was put in the lift with...||I really feel wether this is a low budget hotel or not noone should feel unsafe or at threat ans I really don't feel like this hotel is that bothered that much, as long as people check in they don't...

I was in town for a conference and stayed here two nights. It is not centrally locate compared to city centre (3 km away) but close to the beach if you are here for vacation. There is a good ocean view from the hotel which is nice. The room wasn't big but ok since I was alone. It was also warm which can be a problem this time of the year in China before heating is put on. The Wi-fi is free and worked ok, breakfast is mainly chinese food and very little continental as I have seen at other IHG hotels in China. No fitness center either. This hotel was acceptable for a 3* plus and not 4* hotel. Though the room was well equipped with all the basic necessities , eg. toiletries and complimentary bottled water were replenished daily as expected. However, I found that hotel room was a bit cramped-not sufficient space to move around and face with the problem of placing two medium size of luggages. The bathroom was also small without a tub. Wi-fi was complimentary but it was ridiculously slow! Good points were-Housekeeping was good and breakfast was good standard mix of Chinese and western choices. Staff services were good and friendly.
