In short: If you get the lowest rate (118 CNY per night, available through online reservation or IBIS/Accor membership), this hotel should be fantastic value for money. At any higher rate, the cost-benefit-ratio becomes questionable. This is a budget hotel and the moment you enter, you notice this immediately.||||The (Standard) rooms are relatively clean and sufficiently large. In terms of furniture and equipment, there is a wardrobe with some clothes hangers, an open wall closet, a table attached to the wall, a mini couch, a TV, a large bed, and an electric kettle plus free tea and coffee. Hair dryer and power strip were available upon request. Bathroom is large enough with hot water available 24/7. In my room, the sink in the wash basin was a bit clogged, and the air-con didn't work properly (as has been reported earlier on Tripadvisor by other guests). Didn't bother me too much, but whoever has an issue with that can for sure request another room. 2 complimentary bottles of water + 2 pair of slippers every day. In-room wifi was fast and free. Usually there is buffet breakfast for 29 CNY/person but it wasn't available during Chinese New Year, so I can't judge the quality. I spoke Chinese to the staff but I overheard some other guests talk to them in English and the conversation went very well. Foreign credit cards are accepted but make sure you insist on being charged in CNY to avoid the usurious "dynamic currency conversion rate" (~5% instead of the standard 2% currency conversion charge).||||The location is not ideal indeed for budget travellers: 8min footwalk to the nearest metro station called Wangjiadun East/王家墩东, but thankfully it is Line 2, which can take you all the way to the famous Optics Valley Square光谷广场 in Wuchang. Closest shopping mall is New World Plaza near Qingnian Road/青年路 and would take a 10min footwalk or a bus ride. Location is the main reason why I give only 4 out of 5 stars. If you don't mind taking a taxi all the time, the location is actually good: prime locations such as Huayuan Avenue/花园道, Xibeihu Road/西北湖路, Wanda Plaza in Lingjiaohu/菱角胡万达广场, Zhongshan Park/中山公园, Hankou railway station/汉口火车站 should all be reachable for max. 20 CNY per taxi ride. And for those well-versed in taking buses in China, right in front of the hotel there are even buses going directly to French Street and the Dongfeng-Peugeot-Citroen office headquarters and car manufacturing site in Hanyang, as well as to the famous Heptachord...
Read moreHello,||||Well I was surprised to find an Ibis in China. I have to say as a newcomer that is something. To see that they are trying to keep the same standard that the Ibis in Europe was great. The location is good in Hankou, you have the underground at 10-15 mins. You've got a bus stop at lest than 3 mins from the hotel. The train station in taxi is between 15- 20 mins, maybe less I can't remember exactly. But not far for China.||||The staff is amazing, I'm not speaking Chinese fluently but wit a translator we understood each other, plus bonus the following morning I discovered that they had a member of staff speaking English fluently!!! The hotel has his own printer shop (literally a shop, you can print whatever you want). So we were able to print English maps of Hankou!! The hotel does have maps but they are in Chinese. ||||The room is basic but good. Bathroom is the best part for me, the room is very spacious. The beds are comfortable. I had some issues with my rooms (1st one:shower door missing, 2nd one: strong smell of cigarette) but they got it right the third time!!||The price is unbelievably cheap about € 42 (298 YUAN)!!! The rooms needs a bit of refreshing if I have to be honest but it's clean.||||The breakfast needs a serious makeover!! I'm not recommending anyone to pay for it. ||I'm going back for New Year Eve. This hotel is a keeper for its...
