Courtyard by Marriott Xi'an North — Hotel in Xi'an

We chose this hotel as it looked very nice and had a decent location. It is about a 10 minute walk to the closest metro Shitushuguan. The staff are very nice and attentive at times. The rooms are so nice and well appointed but the shower pressure is too strong and unadjustable. The breakfast is really good with many Chinese and Western options all prepared fresh. The hotel is connected to a large and nice bookstore that has many little shops and cafes throughout. There are also a few cheap food stalls nearby.||The staff at the hotel could be off-putting at times. I had the do not disturb light on while I was working in the room at 10:30 am and housekeeping came, knocked on the door, rang the doorbell, tried to enter the room and slipped a note under the door that said something along the lines that they respect our privacy but have the right to enter our room for security, inspection and housekeeping and to call the front desk when I am ready. I had to double check and the red do not disturb light was definitely on. The doorman also helped us for about a minute and asked us to mention his name in a review if we were happy with his service - it was good service but does not merit a mention. We along with our friends all had issues with payment at the front desk. For our incovenience they offered fruit plates and complimentary mini bar use but our single friend received a large fruit plate while we (a couple) were given 1 plum, 6 langon and 2 small cookies. Stayed here for one night with my mom on an overnight layover in the executive club room.||||The hotel is quiet, beautifully clean, wonderfully managed, and we had pretty much a perfect stay. Check-in was smooth, service was excellent, and the air in this hotel is fresh. Everything looks new.||||Loved the rooms. They are well-laid out and designed. Everything is clean and the upkeep is quite nice. You have everything you need. I don't think the windows open but this wasn't necessary as the AC unit works perfectly fine. Unfortunately we arrived too late to take advantage of the snacks and drinks in the club lounge, but I took a look and it seemed like a good place to relax or get some work done. It was quiet with plenty of tables and sitting areas. ||||Breakfast was amazing. I stayed at the Westin Xian earlier in my trip and it seemed like this Courtyard had more options. The breakfast at the Westin is pretty good, but I actually preferred the breakfast here and wished I'd stayed at this hotel instead! Tea options were better too. ||||This hotel seems further from the city center, but it's convenient to the airport and given the choice, I would definitely stay here again rather than the Westin, which is all the way on the far side of the city and quite a long cab ride from the airport. We stayed four nights at this beautiful hotel and everything was great: from pick up at the trainstation to the last second. ||We had an executive room on the 21st floor with great beds, very nice bathroom and a beautiful view. The room/hotel looks brand new and has a nice 24/7 gym with lots of equipment and massage options by a third party. ||The executive room comes with free entrance to the executive bar at 22nd floor, where you can get free snacks (hot and cold, fruits, vegetables, sushi, salads etc) and free drinks every day from 17:30-19:30 hrs. Lisa He is taking extreme good care for the place and its visitors, so a big thank you especially for her!||All the staff is great and making you feel very welcome: the bell boys, the cleaning ladies, the concierges, the reception. What a nice atmosphere. ||Breakfast is huge and has every single option that you could wish for. You name it, they have got it (or they will prepare it for you!). We had dinner one evening in the hotel (hot pot with lots of options) and the taste was very good and the price was even better: less than 160 rmb per person, including drinks. ||Subway is 10 minutes away, railwaystation 15 taxi minutes (or 5 stops on line 2). ||Highly recommended: perfect service for less than...
