Love the location of this hotel, right in the middle of the city within the ancient walls but just slightly off the main roads, making it less busy. We walked all over the inner city from our hotel, from the bell tower, to the Muslim Quarters, as well as South Gate and along the ancient walls. Across the road is a small family owned Chinese pastry shop that sells really awesome pastries. For the 3 nights that we were there, we always made it a point to stop by for our desserts. Love their egg tarts.
The room we stayed in was spacious and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Not sure if it was because we were tired out but we hardly heard any traffic from outside.
My only issue to pick with the room is that they use translucent glass doors for their toilet in an open concept bathroom. I know it’s supposed to provide the illusion of spaciousness and light but not everyone likes being seen while using the loo. Perhaps adding a solid timber sliding door to close off the bathroom area from the bedroom would have made it perfect.
Staff were polite but the ones who stood out were probably the waitresses at the restaurant during buffet breakfast, with a special shoutout to Ms. Yin Gaili, who made us feel very at home. Too bad the only one in our family who could speak Mandarin was my husband, otherwise I would have enjoyed more conversations with her.
The spread at buffet breakfast was decent, not the best but they have a little bit of everything, from western to Asian, with fruits and cakes. We liked that the hotel provides afternoon tea for their guests as well with a small spread of cakes and fruits as well as coffee, tea and juices
One of the reasons I booked this hotel was because there is a self service laundry facility. However, I was disappointed as there was just 2 washing machines and 1 dryer to serve the entire hotel, as well as being located on a floor where they have to close the laundry room at 8.30pm for the sake of the guests staying on that floor. We ended up only managing to wash out clothes but not use the dryer as there was too many in queue. We took some of the extra hangers in the laundry room and hung out wet clothes all over the room. Thankfully the clothes dried out during the night. What I would suggest is that the hotel move the laundry room to a more public floor, such as Level 3 and provide a dual washing machine that washes as well as dries. And maybe provide more than 2.
The gym is probably the only major complain that I have about this otherwise fantastic hotel. There is a couple of treadmills and a very pathetic looking strength training machine that looks like it’s way past its expiry date. And there was no...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May 2024. When booking I always ask for a quiet room with view with non-feather bedding. This request is not met all the time but on this occasion, it was met to the full.||We stayed in room 1001 – described by Booking.com as a classic king room – situated at the end of the corridor with a view across the city – with non-feather bedding and it was quiet|. |The room itself was modern and practical but with perhaps slightly too much furniture. The bed was large and comfortable – hanging and drawer space – safe – efficient fridge – controllable air conditioning – effective curtains that kept the room dark.||Bathroom tucked around the corner – semi-open – separate toilet and very good shower located behind glass doors ||Another plus was that by the lift on our floor was a large cabinet fridge filled with complementary water which was much needed as temperatures outside exceeded 35C during our stay||Breakfast appeared to have an extensive range of hot and cold items – cooked to order and buffet – but I struggled to put together a satisfying plate of food.||However on our last night – for some reason – don’t ask – we stumbled across the fact that the hotel had a restaurant that served dinner – we booked and found it was popular – had a decent menu – and after suitable hand gestures - we made some very good choices and had one the best dinners of our trip.||The hotel is well located within walking distance of the South Gate/City Wall and the Bell Tower as well as shops malls and restaurants.||A couple of things surprised us – one was that we found a man sitting beside a non-smoking sign in the lift lobby smoking – the area stank of smoke – however by our return all evidence had gone – another was robotic room service which took us by surprise as it rolled down the corridor||This is good hotel with staff to...
Read moreThis hotel exceeded my expectations! I would not hesitate to book again! Close to the train station and the Bell & Drum Towers, great room and absolutely spectacular staff!
Upon arriving, a kind bellman took my bag and walked me to the front desk. The front desk lady was lovely and spoke amazing English! I was given a tourist map, a local map, and a business card with the hotel's location in Chinese for any taxis. Whilst checking in, the helpful bellman offered me juice and water, along with fruit! After checkin, the bellman showed me to my room, detailing where the restaurant, laundry and gym were located. He took me right to my room, putting my luggage down and turning on all the lights! He asked if I had any more questions before leaving. I was blown away by the hotel and I was only there for a 10 minutes!
Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable! There was a selection of drinks and snacks (along with fresh fruit!) left in the room at no extra charge. Bottled water was also left in the room and by the elevator on each floor.
Breakfast was good, with Chinese and Western offerings. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant.
Hotel has free laundry, but only had 2 washers and 1 dryer. Hopefully they are able to add some more machines as it was difficult to find an empty machine.
Upon check out, I asked for someone to help me get a taxi to the airport. A bellman walked me out and loaded my luggage into the taxi. He told the taxi where I was going in Chinese and negotiated a price for me!
As other reviews have noted, the hotel is a lot further down the street than the Google Maps pin. Keep walking down and look up for the neon hotel sign on the top of the building!
Would 100% stay here again when I return to Xi'an! Amazing price and customer service! They have everything right! I wish I...
