Han Tang House — Hotel in Xi'an

We stayed here as a family of 4 and were disappointed with Hantang House.|The room itself was very poor- wallpaper peeling off, broken furniture in the bathroom, broken toilet seat, shower that sent water all over the floor outside the cubicle. Beds were rock hard and air con was ineffective. However it is pretty cheap so you can probably get over that.|We found the attitude of the staff more of an issue. Multiple times they tried to push their Terracotta Army tour on us, despite us repeatedly saying we didn’t want to spend a full day there. We also felt that they were just trying to make money out of us, rather than offering an honest opinion.|We decided to take a taxi to the Terracotta Army (arranged by hostel at a premium- in retrospect we should just have stepped into the street and caught one ourselves which would have probably cost half the price). We left the hostel at 7, took an English speaking guide on arriving there who sorted out the tickets (one of our children was free to enter although the hostel had not told us this, offering us instead 4 full price tours, later offering half price for the children). We were seeing the army by 8.45am which was wonderful and before the crowds. We were home before 12 which was so much better for our kids than a full day.|In summary, Hantang house is fine for a night or two, but be wary of the advice offered and do your research before committing...

I stayed in a private room with a private bathroom at the Hantang House and I really enjoyed it. For the price, the location in the city center was fantastic, the room was good, and the people were nice.||||The hostel is right in the middle of the action within the city walls. It is a perfect base for exploring Xi'an. I found the room to be comfortable and I had no trouble sleeping. When I checked in, they offered me a room on a lower floor or a higher floor. I chose the higher floor for the view (worth it!) and thinking it would be quieter (it was!) but it was a bit of a climb since there was no elevator. The bathroom worked. Keep in mind the price; you are not getting luxury but it is safe and comfortable.||||I also appreciated the service offered by the hotel. Someone met me (and my heavy bag) at the train station and escorted me to the hotel. The woman who checked me in was very kind and everyone I encountered in the cafe on the ground floor was very helpful. Ich habe aufgrund des TripAdvisor-Tipps dieses Hostel für 3 Nächte gebucht. Wir kamen abends an (einfach vom Expresszug-Bahnhof Metro-Linie 2 bis ZhongLu nehmen) und es war sehr sehr laut, was man auch in dem Zimmern hört! Man kommt rein und steht erstmal mitten in der dazugehörigen Bar und sucht nach der Rezeption. ||||Nachdem wir ins Zimmer kamen, roch es zunächst muffig. Der schlechte Eindruck ging im Bad weiter - es war dreckig und es lagen viele Haare rum. Die Handtücher sahen auch aus als wären sie schon 10 Jahre alt. Die Betten an sich sind sehr bequem, allerdings war mein Kopfkissen total befleckt. Als ich an der Rezeption um ein Neues bat, musste ich recht lange warten und mehrmals nachfragen, da niemand reagierte - nach etwa 20 Minuten hatte ich dann ein neues, welches ich auch selbst beziehen "durfte". Ein richtiges Fenster hat das Zimmer leider auch nicht, lediglich ein "Minifenster". Einen Schrank gibt es nicht, auch kaum Ablagemöglichkeiten. ||||Zum Service kann ich echt nur sagen - geht gar nicht. Die Zimmer wurden 1x "gemacht" während unseres Aufenthalts, heißt: Die Bettdecke wurde lieblos übers Bett geschlagen, fertig. Als unser Toilettenpapier alle war, musste ich mich selbst um neues kümmern. Nachdem wir unsere Wäsche gewaschen zurück bekamen, war sie zwar sauber, aber derart zerknittert - sorry, aber das geht nicht. Ich erwarte ja nicht, dass sie gebügelt wird, aber doch wenigstens nicht einfach in die Tüte geknüllt und gut...||Auch um die Wäsche wiederzubekommende gingen in etwa 20-30 Minuten ins Land, weil es nicht möglich war jemanden aufzutreiben, der helfen konnte. ||An der Rezeption sind scheinbar alle überfordert - keiner (außer Michael!!!) kümmert sich - es interessiert scheinbar nur die Bar-Kundschaft. Die Preise sind hier übrigens der Kracher - ein Cappuccino kostet 90 Yuan (etwa 10€!!!!). Wir wollten auch eine Tour für den nächsten Tag buchen, waren dann aber zu wenig Leute und hatten somit Pech :( ||Der kostenlose Luggage-Store ist einfach nur ein dreckiger Keller. Keiner kontrolliert wer da was raus holt, geht leider auch gar nicht!||||Keine Ahnung was die Leute vom Lonely Planet eingenommen haben, als sie dieses Hostel als Tipp ausgeschrieben haben!? Ich würde keinem empfehlen hier zu übernachten. Empfehlenswert scheint allerdings das Schwesternhostel in der gleichen Straße...
