Stayed here for 3 nights on the executive club floor. We liked that it was inside the City Wall, one of the key reasons for choosing it (besides being a HH Diamond and using points for the stay). The breakfast was good (buffet of western + asian dishes, fresh fruits) the staff was great; for our last morning, they realized that we had an early flight so they arranged some boxed breakfasts for us to take to eat on the drive...that was really great of them to think of it and do it. All of the staff spoke more than passable English...in fact it felt like they went out of their way to speak English to us to ensure we felt comfortable.
The room "quality" was about a 4, thinking about room size, quality of linens, bed, bathroom... like you would expect from one of the better US based Hiltons. And whenever we needed something, all one had to do was press the "magic" button (see photo) to get extra pillows (from a pillow menu) or anything else needed.
We didn't eat at any of the hotel's restaurants, so cannot comment on that. The fitness room was good...lot's of room and a separate studio for yoga or dancing or aerobics which is nice. They have a very large indoor pool...and along the lines of outstanding staff service, when we learned that swim caps are required to swim in the pool, the lifeguard figured out from our obvious expressions that we didn't have them... well, she went at got her personal ones for us to use so we could swim.
In the title, i mentioned 'quirks'... here are the two that caught us off guard. The design of the room is such that there is a giant window wall between the bedroom and bathroom, with a motorized blind. Well, at night, the blind let's in a lot of light into the bedroom when one turns on the bathroom light... for light sleepers, it can wake someone up. The second quirk was that even though we had the 'do not disturb' light on outside of our door, housekeeping knocked every day, early in the morning. It didn't really bother us, but did make us scratch our heads :)
We loved the stay here, and would do so again. Great location, and just fantastic...
Read moreExcellent Hotel to stay at in Xi'an. Would have been 5 Stars, apart from a couple of minor issues, which were not really the Hotels fault, so it really should be 4.5 or above if that was possible.||But first the positives. The location is ideal in the centre of the city, close to the East Gate of the City wall, with plenty of restaurants and rating venues nearby. The staff are excellent and all friendly and helpful. We were fortunate to get an upgrade from the 2 standard king rooms we had booked, which was greatly appreciated. ||Then we had an issue with one of the rooms, which had a strong smell of smoke, despite being a Non-Smoking room. Unfortunately some guests seem not to understand, or just ignore this, despite many signs around the hotel saying No Smoking in Chinese and English. Hardly the Hotel's fault but I did notice some ashtrays in the internal corridor, close to one of our rooms. Have they just admitted defeat, and are trying to just minimise the mess. ||The staff were quick to deal with the issue however, and further upgraded that room again to an Executive room, so top marks for that. ||The rooms are comfortable and spacious with comfy beds and a great shower.||Only a couple of English speaking channels on TV, just CNN, no BBC so a tiny bit disappointed with that, but at the end of the day we weren't there to watch TV. ||The Breakfast was excellent, with a fantastic selection of international and well as Chinese food. Really very impressive. Great coffee as well !||One final issue, is the location of the Hotel if using Google Maps. Basically don't !|It takes you to the wrong place. This is a known Google issue throughout China, so use an alternative, Maps.Me is a good English alternative. ||The Hilton is about 800 metres away from the nearest Underground station at Wuluku. Leave by Exit E from the...

He does it with a warm & friendly smile, making us feel well looked after & safe.||Housekeeping:|Room attendant & supervisor were very attentive to detail as well as our needs. All amenities are well-stocked daily. Room always done without delay. They do all they can to make us comfortable. When we felt warm, they took initiative to send over a dehumidifier, refill water daily & opened room windows for us. Upon check-out, quickly checked to see if we left anything behind (which I did leave my handbag on the bed & forgot). Also offered to help with luggage.||Public toilet:|The toilet was well-maintained, clean & well-stocked. ||Service Staff:|Service staff including chef greet guests with a smile and are observant. They approach to offer assistance when they notice we are a bit confused on our first day. Tables were also always promptly cleared.||Executive Lounge:|Staff very friendly and welcoming. Supervisor Guo Pan provided what I would call outstanding service. My husband & I took some fruit & saw some longan left and enjoyed it. We finished & got up, walking out to go back to our room. The supervisor asked us to just hold on for a while. It was our 1st evening there & we asked why she asked to wait for a bit. She said she saw we liked the longan & she had asked the kitchen to check if there were any left. She says there is not much left, & it's on the way up. She then handed the bowl the kitchen sent up to me for us to enjoy in our room. We were so touched by her gesture. We really enjoyed our stay, and the staff made us feel so much at home. Congratulations on having such...
