This is a review of the Holiday Inn Express Xi’an Daxing, one of the newest Holiday Inn Expresses in Xi’an. So new there is no entry yet in Google Maps and I can’t add a new place for places in China as is well understood why. Anyway I’m writing primarily just for me to express satisfaction for their breakfast buffet. The rooms are modern, efficient and clean but the major gripe for many hotels in China including Western ones like this is that it sometimes reeks of cigarette smoke (apparently can’t be helped given the smoking culture). But let’s move on to the good stuff, the breakfast. There were so many new delicious stuff for me to discover. How about fish skin with green vegetables, cherry tomatoes so sweet they’re categorized as dessert, all sorts of bao ranging from the local specialty Chinese burger to sweet red bean, tasty fragrant yogurt with squash nuts and sultanas, noodle soup with your choice of tasty meat or vegetarian dumplings or the best is to add the egg tomato or pickled vegetables (try topping it also with a fried egg). Other interesting foods are: Mala jelly noodles (made with pea starch), shredded stewed pork, and the daily soup (chicken, beef or the best pork rib and radish with corn). Yes there’s bacon and sausages and Cantonese-style egg fried rice but now they just...
Read moreIt was my third time to stay in this hotel. Everything went well with swift check in service, but something started to be uncomfortable from the next day morning.
One of the staffs from the breakfast restrant, with blue uniform, always showing unhappy face, when I asked to take some dumplings, she just pretended to hear nothing, what's more, she denied me to take the dumplings that another staff cooked for me,which made me so embarrassed that extremely affected my breakfast experience!
The outlet of the hot milk container was slugged, which caused the milk spilled everywhere even would hurt the guests by the hot temperature. The same staff,as referred above, complained all the guests with loud voice directly.
still this blue uniform lady, talk about other guests with other staff all the time!
However, this is not the end. When I apply to check out, the front desk girl ,with nothing words, threw one transparent box on the desk with loud noise indicated me put the room card into it .
After leaving, the staff phoned me to give the service with 10 score rated because they gave me a welcome drink. May I say this is...
Read moreI had a great stay with a group of friends at this hotel for three nights. I stayed in a twin room with one of my sons and the room was very nice during our stay. ||||Check-in was easy and quick. We stayed in a twin room on the 18th floor. The beds were comfortable and we had the extra pillows that I had requested. The wifi and AC worked well. The self-service laundry was easy to use but we did need to get tokens from the front desk for 20 RMB each. Breakfast was great and the options changed daily (both western and Chinese.) ||||The location is close to Xi'an North Train station and was easy to get to by taxi when we arrived. The hotel is attached to a newer mall and had plenty of options for dining at the food court and restaurants inside. We took the subway back to the train station when we left. It was pouring rain at the time, but the subway was easy to get to through the mall.||||Our guide during our stay in Xi'an was able to easily pick us up and drop us off at the hotel each day as we explored the city. The hotel is not in the city center, but we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when...
