This hotel is a frustrating place to stay. ||First, a taxi can’t drive to the hotel. At best they can stop about 200 meters away. If you’re coming or going on a rainy day, prepare to get wet. ||Second, the hotel is very difficult to find. The entrance is in the interior of a large courtyard with several other businesses and several entrances to the courtyard. The taxi drivers have no idea which entrance to go to, and a call to the hotel for guidance doesn’t improve the situation. If you’re lucky and come i to the courtyard through the right entrance, it will be easy to find the hotel. If you’re unlucky enough to use the wrong entrance you’ll waste a lot of time wandering around trying to find it. It you’re really lucky, you’ll walk into a bar, go through a door labeled “Staff Only” and then find a small sign announcing the Moxy Hotel. ||Is this really what the hotel expects guests to do?||Third, getting an accurate information from the staff about pretty much anything is pretty much impossible. ||Fourth, if you think you might want to spend any time relaxing in the lobby lounge, I hope you like screaming, out-of-control children. There were lots of them. ||Fifth, the hotel website and internal signs tout the bar and KITCHEN serving Asian fusion cuisine. You might think that means you could get something to eat during normal dining hours. Wrong again! The only food available is a modest breakfast buffet, and there’s nothing “fusion” about it. ||The hotel basically is a disgrace to the Marriott brand. ||Aside from these frustrating aspects, the rooms are basic but adequate, and the location is good — just a short walk to the Bell Tower.||I gave it 3 stars ONLY for the...
Read moreStaycation New Year’s Eve in Xi’an, Moxy has it all. I chose to say here because when I lived in ShenZhen, I would stay at the Moxy and Longhorn as well as hang out there with friends. I wanted to be near the bell tower, and although this hotel is a little bit more than the others on the street view, it has the things that I need and has the amenities as expected. Tammy from Shenzhen helped get me connected to Xi’an’s location. Anthony is managing here. Great service! There is a book lounge, gym, and laundry, as well as a full bar. Currently there is not the happy hour/dinner kitchen open, but multiple restaurants in the culture block attached (suggested it Masala Pakistani Restaurant). Street food is of quality too! Their breakfast is a mix of buffet and continental. The room I had overlooked the opera stage, museum, courtyard, and a beautiful morning of Qin singing and Opera alongside instruments. The sunrise and temple roof views spot on. This location has a music bar downstairs with a wonderful band as well as servers. Everything is decorated uniquely and also with the Moxy style. Their beds and pillows are so comfortable, and the simple set up of their hangers and furniture is really appreciated. I like the choice of their shampoos and bathroom amenities. Sometimes the summer months can get a little bit more expensive, but if you book ahead, it’s most economical for the stay here because they have everything you need. The area has so many things to do just on one corner. Next to subway also. Thanks Anthony and Staff, nice and accommodating all around. #WelcomeToXian...
Read moreWe loved the nice, modern and spacious rooms. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. Excellent location. Close to the Bell Tower.
The biggest disappointment of our stay was when we returned to the hotel on the second night and found ourselves locked out of our room. So we had to go down to the reception area, where we were told that we would only be able to access our room after settling a deposit. This was an extremely frustrating experience, especially since we would be checking out just a few hours later. It was clear that the staff member who checked us in had forgotten to ask for a deposit, which led to an uncomfortable situation in the middle of the night. For us and for the (friendly) staff member on duty. To add to the confusion, we later learned that the hotel had also contacted our parents, who were staying in another room, to demand a deposit, despite the fact that I was the one handling the entire reservation. This lack of communication left us feeling uneasy as we prepared to leave.
While we have enjoyed our stays at the Moxy chain in the past, this stay highlighted several areas for improvement. The hotel has great potential, but better management of these areas would enhance the...
